Q&A a Day for Kids by Betsy France — This book is not only super-adorable, but it will be such a sweet keepsake for Eisley someday. My best friend had given me this book last year, but I didn't think that Eisley would answer the questions thoughtfully enough at age three, so my plan was to begin on her 4th birthday. However, given the fact that she is so full of silly stories and detailed explanations these days, I decided to pick it up and start filling it out each day this month! I love that I'll be asking the same set of questions for three consecutive years, and know it'll be pretty hilarious to compare her answers now to her answers when she's 6.
2. Wilder Mind / Mumford and Sons — This album is completely and utterly fantastic. There are so few bands I can listen to who never seem to disappoint, and this is one! I can listen to every single one of their albums straight through and almost never feel the need to skip over any track. From the first song, this album had me hooked (and kitchen dancing) and I really can't get enough. Must-hear tracks: Tompkins Square Park, Believe, The Wolf, Just Smoke, and, okay, all of the rest. (I do want to mention that—as with their other albums—they've thrown in a couple completely out-of-the-blue curse words on a couple tracks, so just don't hand over the album to your tween without keeping that in mind, mmmkay?)
3. Trader Joe's Organic Midnight Moo Chocolate Syrup — I've been on the search for a chocolate syrup that doesn't have high-fructose corn syrup as a main character on the ingredient label and I've finally found one that is so delicious and so affordable! This chocolate syrup is just over $3 at Trader Joe's, completely organic, and HFCS-free. I know it will last us a while because pretty much the only thing I use it for is a huge glass of chocolate milk when a craving strikes. Realms of pleasure, I tell you. REALMS.
4. Undisclosed Podcast — I'm one of the bajillion people who were completely obsessed with the Serial podcast last year, and ever since it ended there has definitely been a void in my earbuds. I was thrilled to learn about this new podcast, which isn't affiliated with Serial, but has picked up where they left off and are continuing to take a closer look at the case against Adnan Syed. They're revisiting the case from the very beginning, and are adding their own commentary as well as new facts that have come to light in recent months. Super detailed and super fascinating. The extra-long episodes are much appreciated, and it is something I'm always so eager to listen to.
5. Outshine Pineapple Fruit Bars — Have you ever been to Disneyland? Have you ever had the Dole Whip over by the Enchanted Tiki Room? If you'd like to take a trip to Adventureland from the comfort of your own home, you have to buy these fruit bars. It's like eating Dole Whip in frozen form, and it is heaven. If you listen closely, you may even hear birds sing words (and flowers croon).
And what had you swooning this past month? Please share!
