my weekly to-dos...

Last week was yet another week filled with highs and lows, but they were mostly highs—and even involved us crossing something huge off our pre-baby to-do list—so all in all, it was a good one.

Over the weekend, we ended up getting a new car, which we were totally not planning on doing this soon, but everything kind of fell together perfectly. I know it helped that we walked onto the lot not even really planning on buying, and being totally fine sticking to our guns and paying only what we were willing. After a few hours (miraculously, Eisley was a gem the entire time!) we signed the papers getting even more than we were hoping for, and drove off the lot with a 2013 Nissan Rogue with just over 3,000 miles on it. Um, hi? That's insane. We were planning on getting a compact SUV, but knew we could probably only afford something that was several years old with around 50,000 miles on it. We even get free oil changes, maintenance and car washes with our purchase through the dealership, so both Jay and I feel fancy, fancy, fancy. There's no way we were going to fit two carseats into my tiny little Yaris (which Jay will now drive), so having this larger vehicle is such a blessing. We're so thrilled!

At least one big thing is now taken care of, because the rental search is still giving me stress hives and I'm ready to wave the white flag of defeat. We found a huge two-bedroom place for the perfect price and went to view it on Sunday, only to discover an absolutely filthy property that was so disappointing. (We're talking water damage on the ceiling, bugs crawling in every kitchen drawer I peeked into, rusted and stained sinks and tub, and thick layers of dust on every single surface.) When we asked the landlord how long it would take for it to be move-in ready, he said, "Oh, just two or three days!" My face almost melted off. That property needed a ton of maintenance and cleaning. Like, two weeks, at least. I'm actually amazed someone would show a property in that condition to prospective renters! When we asked about the neighborhood, he said, "Well, I'm not going to say it's the best…you know how it is."

That's special.

Here's a look at last week's goals (without photos, because such is life!). And I definitely didn't end up crossing off as much as I'd hoped! But some weeks I just can't win, and that is that.
Last week's goals:

Marriage, Motherhood & Home Life
 — Prepare one freezer meal (made and froze a bunch of chicken stock, so I'm crossing this one off!)
 — Deep clean/organize something (went through one of our closets to make room for baby clothes if we end up staying here after she's born)
 — Create meal plan for the rest of the month

Self
 — Finish one eBook
 — Daily bible reading/prayer/journaling
 — Spend one evening out by myself

Creativity & Blogging
 — Host Etsy flash sale for all remaining items I have on hand (simply not enough time this past week!)

Miscellany
 — Send one piece of snail mail
 — Earn enough Swagbucks for my first $25 gift card for the month
 — Continue rental search

And here is my list for the week ahead:
This week's goals:

  1. I'm so excited to hear about your new car (this sounds a lot like how we bought our new Jetta a few weeks ago...) CONGRATS!

I feel you on the rental search. My search has been frustrating as well and we have now postponed the search after my family's visit in June/July :( (which makes me so sad as I was hoping to host them all - 6 people - at our new place. Where do people stay when they come to visit you?? Do they stay in hotels as well?)

I am keeping my fingers crossed for your search!
