my weekly to-dos...

It was a fantastic week. I got an incredible amount of to-dos accomplished—even cleaning my car (inside and out!) for the first time since…oh, probably March. (Sorry, Dad! I promise I'll get the tires rotated this week. Mostly promise.) I've felt inspired to write more and create more and to be a bit more…me.

I don't even know what that means, but I think it's a good thing.

This week at my weekly mama's gathering was very cleansing, too. I'm pretty sure each of us had a bit of an ugly cry at one point or another, and I never thought something like that would feel so good. It was yet another reminder that everyone has a story…most of which you'll never hear. There are so many things every woman has struggled to overcome and sometimes still struggles with, and it's actually a beautiful thing to know you're not the only one with brokenness and heartache in some form. If you're a mom who hasn't yet taken the time to seek out a group like this, please do. It's been one of the best decisions I've made in the past couple years. Truly.

So! Here's a look at last week's to-do list and my list for the week ahead:

This week's goals:

Marriage, Motherhood & Home Life
 — Take Eisley on a nature walk
 — Try one new recipe (Jay made salmon patties, which I was skeptical about but ended up being completely delish)
 — Begin week 2 of 4 Weeks to a More Organized Home

Self
 — Drink 60 oz. of water every day (that is way more than I thought!)
 — Finish reading one book
 — Complete daily devotions

Creativity & Blogging
 — Update Etsy (still have a few items to photograph, though)
 — Update social media icons for blog (found the perfect set for free over here)

Miscellany
 — Send care package to the bestie
 — Transfer photos/videos from iPhone to computer

I've wanted to take Eisley on some sort of nature walk for ages now, and we finally found one nearby that was the perfect morning adventure for us. I told Jay that I wanted to move there, I loved it so much. It was almost deceptive, finding a beautiful sanctuary like this so close to the regular part of the city! At the end of our visit, we'd hardly left the parking lot before passing an Arby's and it kind of bummed me out. (I miss always being surrounded by trees. I think we may go again and stay all day.)

4 Weeks to a More Organized Home | yourwishcake.com
I'm really enjoying Crystal Paine's 4 Weeks to a More Organized Home! I'm doing the short version (there's a longer, more detailed version, too) because I just like having the one box to check off every day. There are a couple things here and there that I need to catch up on, but it's been such a perfect challenge for me right now. I'm also working on getting rid of (or donating) a bunch of things that are cluttering up our relatively small space. It's quite freeing, really.

Eisley refused to nap one day this past week, so I decided to wave the white flag…and eat all the cookie dough in the world. I'm coming to terms with nap-free days here and there and am just trying my best to roll with the punches—but, goodness, what a transition it will be one she's completely done with her 2+ hour afternoon naps! That said, the cookies were a good choice. If you'd like to make these delicious, cake-like pumpkin cookies, I posted about them a million years ago here.

Oh, the magic of a Sunday evening at the park. The light in this photo leads you to believe that my child did not have a few mild meltdowns or try to go down the slide standing up (and I think we all now how that one turned out).

This week's goals:

 — Pare down our book collection
 — Reorganize Eisley's wardrobe
 — Begin week 3 of 4 Weeks to a More Organized Home

Self
 — Drink 40 oz. of water every day (hopefully more manageable!)
 — Learn something new
 — Finish reading one book
 — Complete daily devotions (currently using Jesus Calling and The Message: Solo, New Testament)

Creativity & Blogging
 — Complete one seasonal decor project
 — Create spreadsheet for monthly income

Miscellany
 — Goodwill run

  1. So I drink an obscene amount of water, since it's about the only beverage I do drink. And I've realized that carrying a water bottle around with me all day has definitely helped my water consumption. Clearly I know it's not for everyone, but having a water bottle nearby definitely reminds me to take a swig and to stay hydrated.

    Also, I'm making these cookies today because sweet mercy they look delicious!
