recent craftiness: an embroidered sentiment...

IMG_0199
Every now and then I get the urge to try something completely new. (Or mostly new.) Last month, I did an embroidery piece that I ended up loving, so I thought it would be fun to do a few more to add to my shop! I used to do custom embroidered hoops, but kept it very basic, stitch-wise. It's been a long while since I've done something of this nature and it feels nice.

I've never tried any stitches other than the basic back-stitch to fill in lettering that I've traced onto fabric, so doing this laurel design was new territory. The whole piece didn't take that long, and was so satisfying. I may have found a new creative addiction! (For the next several months, at least.)

When I've used embroidery hoops as decor in the past, I've typically kept the wood unpainted, but lately I've had a thing for gold paint. It makes me happy. Two quick coats, and this hoop was done!

Teeny-tiny embroidery hoops make me smile. I think this would look perfect as a part of a photo wall, so if I actually get around to doing one in our living room, I may have to keep this for myself. But we'll see! For now, I am excited to complete a handful of these hoops to put up in the shop this month. Goals, goals. I'll be sure to let you know when there are any available in the shop!

Are there any sweet sentiments or quotations that you would like to see on something like this? Let me know!

    1. You're too sweet, Abby! I feel like embroidery is so intimidating until you actually sit down to do a bit. It's much more forgiving than I'd anticipated…and a rather calming craft, which is always a good thing!

  5. So very pretty!! I always wanted to embroider something similar with the quote 'Breathe' or 'Just Breathe'.

    1. Thank you, Farah! "Just Breathe" reminds me of the movie Ever After…did you ever see that? It was one of my favorites when I was a head-in-the-clouds teenager. :)
