For the past couple years, I've had the privilege of working with Jenny Doh as an assistant editor on a number of her books. First of all, what a dream! Getting a sneak-peek at some incredibly inspiring books is always a treat for this crafty lady. Secondly, oh, how I wish I could do it all! From printmaking and doodling, to lettering and crochet…every time I turn to the very last page of any book I'm working on, I'm ready to spend all my money on a new creative endeavor.
But I refrain, because it's just not logical—or humanly possible, for that matter. And I cherish a man named Jay, who would weep openly if I spent all our income on things like doodling pens and fancy sewing machines.
In another life, perhaps.
For now, I just love soaking in every bit of inspiration I can from the pages of each new book I get to look through.
When I had the opportunity to host a giveaway for Crochet Love, I jumped at the chance—mostly because I'm on a bit of a crochet binge right now, and also because it is one of my favorite of Jenny's books. It has become my go-to reference for crochet basics, and has an easy-to-follow introduction to all the stitches you need to know. (Personally, I prefer having a hard copy of these sorts of things, as opposed to searching online for whatever I may need.) And I love that the variety of projects within this book are sure to please both the newbie and seasoned crocheter alike.
This is my favorite project in the book! Sweet little houses made with cotton bamboo yarn, craft wire, and a handful of simple stitches. I plan on making a few of them in my favorite Christmassy colors to use as holiday decor. Some of my other favorite projects inside this book (that I can't wait to try) are: a tic tac toe set (hello, gift idea!), toddler crowns, mason jar cozies, pretty paperweights, and an upcycled plastic tote (made from grocery bags).
The giveaway is now CLOSED—and I'd like to congratulate the winner: Lindsey of Hey Smalls! As always, the winner was chosen through a random number generator, so all's fair in love and blog giveaways. Or something like that. I don't even know. I've eaten too many cookies today. ANYWAY, congratulations to Lindsey, and I hope you enjoy learning to crochet with this awesome book!
