on being published...

Oh, my gosh, I'm a published artist!
Hey, guess what? A few of my projects have been featured in a book. A book! Childhood dream? ACCOMPLISHED.

And, yes, I know what you're thinking. That is, indeed, the actual face I made when the book arrived on my doorstep yesterday. There was also some shrieking involved, and Eisley gave me a look like, "So…it's time for lunch and this box of macaroni and cheese isn't going to make itself. You need to calm down."

When I was asked to contribute to this book, I was a little hesitant, mostly because I haven't done much stamping—especially stamping that involves hand-carving or the use of found objects. But it turned out to be the best sort of challenge. Although they weren't my typical sort of craft projects, they left me so excited to try new techniques and encouraged me to think a little outside-the-box. What I love most about this book is the wide range of projects—from super simple things you can make with items you already have around the house, to much more detailed pieces that are sure to impress. I'm so flattered to have a few of my humble creations next to some of the incredible artwork inside. It's really an honor!

If you want to buy a copy of Stamp It! for yourself (because you know you need one in your life), it's available here.

I also want to say a special thanks to Jenny Doh, the author (as well as a sweet friend and a bit of a mentor), who has done so much to encourage me in my own creative journey—and who helped me accomplish something that I would have never thought possible.

It makes me want to go back in time and high-five twelve-year-old me. Because that girl would be doing cartwheels of joy right about now.
