on almost-free mascara (and a giveaway)...

mascara
Remember when I said I refused to pay more than $3 for mascara, ever again? Well, I'd like to retract that statement and say that I refuse to pay more than .50 for mascara. Ever again. Well, okay, odds are these deals won't happen all the time, but I was so giddy when I was able to get the above Physicians Formula mascara at CVS for only .25 per tube. I only paid .49 out of pocket for the double pack!

Since starting to actively coupon, I've been wanting to show a few deals I pick up here and there—just to show how it's not actually as difficult as you may think. As I've been learning firsthand, the whole idea of couponing is not about leaving the store with six carts of mustard. Because that's just silly. Also, I don't like mustard.

Anyway, here's how I got these for such a low price:

Original price: $10.49
   — $1/off with coupon (from Sunday paper inserts)
   — $2/off any $10 cosmetic purchase coupon (from CVS in-store coupon machine)
   — received $7 CVS extra bucks (money back to spend on my next purchase)

So, essentially, they cost only .25 each. Crazy, right? I checked on Physician Formula's website, and one tube usually runs you somewhere around $9.95. So, this was quite the deal. Granted, I've never used their mascara, so I can't say whether or not it will change your life or anything. But it's worth a try, eh?

mascara
Since I already was able to get a similar deal on some Almay mascara a couple weeks ago, there's really no reason for me to hoard mascara like a crazy person. I thought I'd keep one of the above tubes for myself, and send the other to one of you lovely folks.

Simply leave a comment on this post sometime today or tomorrow (be sure to leave your email address if one isn't connected to your account) and I'll announce the winner on Saturday!

  17. How fun! I wish I had purchased that week's insert, because this is my brand of mascara! I love it so far. It doesn't magically transform my lashes or anything crazy, but it gets the job done and I know there aren't any crazy chemicals being painted onto my lashes, which is an added bonus. Thanks for sharing the wealth Kerri! :)
