on a bit of a doodle...

myeisleygraphic

Don't you just love when you find a tutorial that actually works out perfectly?

I've been trying to challenge myself more with my graphic skills (or lack thereof) and have been eager to try creating some graphics and prints of my own sketches and lettering. When I came across this tutorial on Pinterest, I was intrigued. I sort of figured it would be beyond my skill level (I'm a self-taught Photoshop Elements user) but wanted to give it a shot, anyway.

It took a few tries (okay, about fifteen), but I finally figured out how to upload a recent doodle I did and convert it to a faux chalkboard graphic. Now I wish I had added something extra around the words! But at least now I know what I'm doing. I'm kind of excited to try this out with different backgrounds and wording. I wish I had more time on the computer during the day, but whenever Eisley is awake and I try to sneak away, she notices and immediately dashes around the room, shrieking wildly until I turn on her iTunes playlist. (The girl needs to take it down a notch, for sure.)

In any case, it certainly feels good to learn something new. It reminds me how important it is to challenge myself, you know?

  3. The possibilities are endless! Great job making it work. :) I love your doodles. Do you have a doodle book, or doodle on random bits and pieces of paper? I am challenging myself to learn how to crochet right now. Dun dun dun!

  4. 1. This is adorable. 2. I have been OBSESSED with calligraphy and hand-lettering lately and JUST learned how to do this myself (furthering my conjecture that we are twinsies) 3. our doodle-cursive is remarkably similar.

    Thanks for sharing!
