on current bits of happiness...

self.

I'm looking forward to a mini-vacation to visit my parents and two (of my four) sisters. I haven't seen them (with the exception of my dad who came for a quick visit last month) in over a year. Obviously, this is unacceptable. Obviously, they need to move back to the West coast. Obviously, I am going to spend the entire time in a giant bear hug until I am forced to do otherwise.

For some odd reason, HTML coding is a secret obsession of mine. I adore learning new ways to modify my blog layout and prettify my piece of the internet. Have you seen the work in progress? It makes me happy. There are a few things I need to simplify and a bunch of things I want to work on, but I'm excited about what I've been able to do thus far. Thank goodness for the power of Google! One of these days I'll put together a reference post to share my favorite finds for tutorials, fonts and design elements.

This weekend we are going to be starting the (undoubtedly long) process of organizing the duplex in order to make room for the wee one. This was our main excuse to finally get a new couch after five years of marriage, which brings me more joy than I can even express. (One of our current couches is from The Salvation Army and was scratched to bits by the cat we had when we were first married, and the other one was shamelessly picked up off the side of the road by Jay before we were married. We are a thrifty couple, what can I say?) Anyway, new couch = happiness. Same with new curtains. And new coffee table. And freeing up space for a crib in our bedroom.

I truly have the sweetest friends, family and coworkers a girl could possibly ask for.

I'm hoping I can actually get moving on some craftiness in order to reopen my long-lost etsy shop. It's difficult because I have so many ideas and yet I have so little time in order to make them a reality. However, I really miss having that constant creative outlet. I feel like I've lost myself a bit in the last several months, having not made much time at all to do the things I love most. Time to get back in the groove! It's kind of exciting to think about. Just having a plan makes me feel productive.

Two words: baby moccasins. (We may not have a crib yet, but we have the most epic pair of handmade baby moccasins you'll ever see.)

Baby names. Oh, baby names. So much to ponder.

  4. I love your new look - HTMl is both easy and challenging at the same time! But rewarding, too. I cannot wait to hear more about baby names. My husband and I went back and worth until I was about 35 weeks pregnant :)

  9. Baby names. Dude. Baby names are a constant source of both hilarity and disbelief in our house. Our naming styles could not be more different.

  10. You should probably blog about where you found those ADORABLE little scalloped circles in your header.

    Just saying.

Are you keeping the name a secret? We downloaded an app on my iPod for baby names and constantly added to it and whittled it down all summer long. We only sort of kind of settled on a name before Gabe was born. Then I was holding him a few minutes after he was born and was all, "You are such an angel; you're little Gabriel." Yes, it was really that emotional and sappy and corny.

    You'll see.

    Post-birth endorphins FTW!

  15. I love your idea of an HTML reference guide of sorts. I still can not wrap my mind around HTML, someday hopefully.

Girl names are so much fun, almost as much fun as little girl clothes, all the pinks, purples and ruffles.

  16. An HTML reference guide would be great. I've been playing with my blog's HTML *a lot* lately and I could definitely use some guidance.

    Ooo, baby moccasins! Too cute!
