on who I am (at the moment)...

sixteen weeks (and three days)!

I am…

…currently sixteen weeks pregnant. I felt the first flutters last Thursday and it was another one of those moments where I'm all, "This is real, isn't it?" And it is. It is real and amazing and scary and thrilling all at the same time. There is hardly a moment in the day that I'm not thinking about this avocado-sized person floating around inside me. It's…surreal. And probably the greatest feeling I've ever experienced.

…sleepy. Always. Amen.

…absolutely obsessed with Grey's Anatomy thanks to Netflix streaming. I have a history of being entirely too emotionally involved with shows I watch (especially when it happens to be five seasons in the span of a few months) and when I was sobbing while watching it at the laundromat today, I became fully aware that an intervention is needed. (It was the wedding episode in season five, if that means anything to you. And if it doesn't? WATCH THE SHOW. SOB WITH ME.)

…in love with those moments I feel like a real adult. Talking about bills. Grocery shopping. Making big decisions. Standing behind Jay to be to make sure his haircut is even.

…craving cucumbers, ice water with fresh lemon, bean and cheese burritos from Taco Bell, and waffles with peanut butter.

…still feeling incredibly behind on many aspects of life. So much to catch up on and so little time.

…listening to the following words, which have been swirling around in my head for the past few weeks: What if, at this very moment, I am living up to my full potential?

…wishing to have all my family at the same place, at the same time. I always thought I'd be that girl living down the street from her parents, sisters, nephews and nieces. I know there is a reason life has taken us in different directions, to different places, but some days it wears on me more than others.

…trying to find direction with my creativity.

…thankful.

  2. You're looking amazing, and it all stays surreal long after the pregnancy is over, I hear!

Eric and I always talk about moving away again, but then I remember how thankful I am to be so close to our parents right now. I'll know we'll all be split up again before long, but I'm trying to relish the present.

  4. When I was pregnant, I craved ketchup. Not on anything ... just straight ketchup. Blech.

  7. OMG Grey's Anatomy. I cry during that episode too, and also from the season finale of last season - even though I know everything that's going to happen it gets me every time.

Love that mantra that's been swirling around in your head - and you definitely are the epitome of a "glowing" pregnant woman!!!

  9. You are absolutely adorable! And I love that you actually enjoy feeling like a grown up. Sometimes all those adult responsibilities make me want to hide under the covers for a bit, but you're right-it is good to be grown up!

  10. First: Oh my gosh you are so cute! Pregnancy looks so good on you. :P Hehehe. And I get waaaaaaaay too emotionally involved with shows too. "especially when it happens to be five seasons in the span of a few months" = EXACTLY!! Haha. I haven't watched Grey's Anatomy but my most recent emotional upheaval was due to Dexter. My heart has been broken a million times over do to that show. That plus now I want to have Michael C. Hall's babies. ;) Lol. I live far away from my family too. I know I am living out my life's story, but it would be nice if they were closer. I keep trying to convince them to move to California...but it doesn't look like that will be happening anytime soon. But nothing is impossible, right?? ;)

  11. You're an adorable mom to be! I don't get emotional at Gray's, but I may or may not have cried watching Friday Night Lights this weekend. Sup hormones.

  14. You're so adorable it's kind of ridiculous. I wish I could hug you and touch that little belly (though I'm planning to visit in June, so I suppose I can wait). So beyond happy for you, my love.

  16. You look great!
Waffles with peanut butter...sounds pretty good!
Are those cravings out of the ordinary or something you'd eat anyway?
You feel behind on things?! You're pregnant, that's the best reason to be 'behind' ever!

  25. Ooof. I have read for a while, not sure if I have posted in a forever though. I am 13 weeks today and holy smokes. The TIRED. The desire for chicken in all forms. Roasted, fried, eggs. You name it, I like them!

We live two hours away from some family and 9 hours from the rest of the family and it is equal parts hard and okay. I am not sure if it will get better or worse. A friend and I talked about how when you are farther away from family, it seems like other people step into those roles in your life somewhat.

  26. aww wow where have i been? Congratulations! It goes by so quickly! I can't believe I'm only 6 weeks away from meeting my lil bean.

  27. Reading this makes me miss you. Can we catch up soon on, you know, the last year of our lives? :)

  28. I'm so emotionally invested in Grey's that I sometimes confuse it with my real life.

I can't even begin to tell you how hard I cried at that wedding episode. I sobbed - dirty dirty hysterical sobbing - for the majority of the episode and a good hour or so afterward.

We should have a two person Grey's party next time I'm in SoCal. With lots of tissues and cookies. The tissues for the crying, the cookies because WHY NOT.

  30. I totally agree with "being in love with those moments I feel like a real adult". Sometimes my husband and I go out to dinner to talk about just that: bills, our house, making big purchases, future kids, our careers etc. It feels so refreshing!

  36. I always knew you would be The Cutest pregnant. So awesome.

Also: GREY'S. I cannot quit that show. Even after some of the most ridiculous story-lines in the history of television. I am forever hooked and now in love with Owen, amen.

That being said... I love Grey's Anatomy! I'm so addicted to that show. I hope it stays on the air a long, long time. :)
