on pink or blue...
On Friday, we find out if we're having a boy or a girl.
It sounds silly, but I've rather enjoyed this time of not knowing. It's been this little mystery where the answer is so close yet so far away. As I rest my hand on my (slowly) growing belly, it's the oddest thing knowing that it's already decided. All the bits and pieces are there. It's already a little girl of boy, floating around in there without a care in the world (unless you count my relentless poking, trying to make it dance around so I can feel it…I'm obviously an awesome parent already).
When I first found out I was pregnant, I was sure I was having a little girl. Of course it's a girl! I just know it. I'm hardly a mother, but let's call it mothers' intuition. I just have a feeling, that feeling people always talk about…it's definitely a girl. After my second ultrasound, I had this shift in perspective and all of a sudden I was completely sure it was a boy. How silly of me to assume it was a girl! Psh! It's obviously a boy. I'm sure of it! We are totally going to have a mini-Jay running around here and it's going to be epic.
However, for the past few weeks every bit of intuition has completely left my body. I literally have no idea what I'm having. At all. Not even a hint. Although, these are the things I do know:
- I will be honestly thrilled whether it is a boy or a girl. I definitely want a daughter someday (because a son will most likely not want to watch Meg Ryan movies with me, among other traditionally female activities). But I've decided that I definitely want a son, too. I will most likely weep with joy after finding out, no matter what the wee one may be.
- In almost all my nightly baby dreams I have a daughter. Like, 9 times out of 10. And she is always fantastic. (I have yet to endure any remarkably stressful baby dreams, which surprises me because I'm the queen of stress dreams. While asleep I experience my teeth falling out at least once a month. Hold me.)
- I am carrying rather high (from what I can tell).
- Almost all the family members I've talked to about it think I'm having a boy.
- Symptom-wise, I'm not violently ill on a constant basis, but it really comes and goes. They say if you're having a girl you end up feeling like poo during your pregnancy, but I think that an unusual amount of good hair days have outweighed any nausea. Most days, I do feel all glowy, which has been fantastic.
- I don't have any real cravings yet. Well, I do feel more in the mood for certain foods and beverages, but it's nothing so out of the ordinary that I feel it could be defined as a "pregnancy craving" and not simply a "Kerri craving". (I must admit that processed cheese always sounds like manna from heaven these days. Like, I'd stab things in order to have my way with a bag of Cheetos.)
- According to the Chinese Gender Calendar, I'm having a girl.
So, now I'm tempted to ask each of you: If you had to guess, would you say boy or girl? Pink or blue? Sinclair or Marfo? (Okay, ignore that last one; Jay and I were having too much fun with a baby names book.)

I'm so happy for you!!! You are going to be such a loving mom! If I had to guess... I totally see you having a sweet little girl. Either way... It's going to be fantastic. Can't wait to see what you find out!
ReplyDeleteBased on your dreams, your sickness, and how high you are carrying I am saying GIRL. I had three very visual dreams that I was having a boy. I even felt it right away and next time we're waiting to find out! :)
ReplyDeleteHmmmm... I'm going with... Girl. I think it's weird that you're dreams are 90% show you having a daughter. Maybe it's because YOU are a girl, but I still think it's strange! I can't wait to find out! (is that weird?)
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing girl as well. I never had any intuition about my son, but I always happened to refer to the baby as a 'him' before finding out the sex. I was right, but I think it was just luck. (Actually, I was hoping for a daughter and figured if I decided it was a boy, I'd be a little less disappointed. But really, I absolutely love having a son now. Though I will be crossing my fingers hard for a girl next time! :) )
ReplyDeleteOh, and I never once had a dream about my baby being a girl. Always a boy!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to say boy. To be different. :)
ReplyDeleteI would love a mini-wishy more than anything on earth. but a mini-jay would be pretty great too. :)
ReplyDeletei have pregnant dreams every so often and it's always a girl. i don't know what i would do with a boy. sell him, i suppose. (OBVIOUSLY I AM SO CLEARLY KIDDING AND WOULD NEVER SELL MY CHILD.)
(for less than ten million dollars.)
(OR EVER. NEVER EVER.)
ahem. anyway, in the last one, her name was Hadley. Which is a name I have never considered. Weird. Also, not pregnant. But would like to be SOMEDAY, which means that i wake up from these dreams and am a little bereft. which kinda sucks. anyway! rambling comment! stop it, RaeLeigh!
your baby is going to be amazing and wonderful either way. cannot WAIT to find out. :)
I also say it's a girl. Good luck on Friday and as you said yourself, you'll be excited and happy and grateful either way. :) Can't wait to read all about it (granted you'll fill us in with pictures, which I hope so so much!!!!).
ReplyDeleteI took the Chinese baby calender and it said I was having a boy... it worked three times! Three boys. So... my guess, it's a GIRL! :) Either way, congrats!
ReplyDeleteI have no IDEA on what you could be having, although I've always pictured you with a little girl. BUT YOU BEST TEXT OR CALL ME AS SOON AS YOU FIND OUT!!!
ReplyDeleteYes, that was me yelling through the computer. But you better do as I say, missy! :-)

You will be so incredibly head over heels in love no matter what it is. My husband wanted a girl really badly, I was the same as you, went back and forth. now that I have my precious son I want to fill my house will little boys. Little boys LOVE their Mama, its the sweetest thing in the world. Motherhood is so incredible,it makes me so happy when other women join the club. Welcome! Welcome to finding everything you were meant to be.
ReplyDeleteMarfo. DEFINITELY Marfo. Just because I don't know what gender that name is.
ReplyDeleteI'm excited for you either way, and I can't wait until Friday! Um, I think girl. For whatever reason, ever since I found out you were pregnant, I kept imagining a little Kerri coming your way.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, those names!!!
ReplyDeleteAnyway!!!
I think a boy. I don't know why. I just see you and think BOY... Er, wait? You know what I mean. ;)
You're awesome, Kerri!!! I can't wait to hear what y'all are having. ^_^
I have no idea. I'm terrible at guessing/predicting these things - I'm just excited you're going to share the gender with us!
ReplyDeletehi! I'm a new reader. I really adore your blog!
ReplyDeleteI am excited to hear if your baby is a boy or girl..I guess: girl.
If you name your child Marfo, I will kidnap it & rename it.
ReplyDeleteI sort of hope you're having a girl, as it seems nearly everyone I know is having a boy! But I'll be thrilled for you either way, of course. :)
I think it will be a girl :-)
ReplyDeleteahhh this is so exciting!!!
ReplyDeleteI can totally picture you with a girl! And secretly, I've thought it was a girl the whole time. BUT...you're going to be an amazing mommy to either. And little boys are so sweet, too!
ReplyDeleteI have always envisioned you having a little girl, so I must guess girl as well. Either will be just the cutest though. I'm sure Landon wouldn't mind having a little partner in crime cousin. :)
ReplyDeleteMmmmm, I am going to cast my vote as a girl.
ReplyDeleteOnly because you would be absolutely perfect for picking out/making ruffly dresses and big flower headbands.
I am excited for you beyond measure.
Thanks for including us in this journey with you.
:)
I just always pictured you with a girl! So my guess is girl! Sooo excited for you to find out!! This week will probably drag. ;)
ReplyDeleteI was certain I was having a boy. But most everyone else said I was having a girl. I had all these dreams that I was having a boy. And I turned out to have a girl! I love all the lore and such on gender (Chinese calendar, cravings, etc...) but I suppose there is only one way to know for sure ;) I cannot wait to find out!
ReplyDeleteI shall guess "boy" - though I really have no reason for doing so :D
ReplyDeleteI'm going to guess BOY! Altho, I really do hope you get at least one of each in the end b/c I just know you would make such an ADORABLE baby girl :D
ReplyDeleteTJ and Malachi both guessed BOY when I was sitting here looking at your flickr set...when I asked Malachi "why do you guess boy Mali?" he told me "well, I thought we were going to have a boy in your belly again!" ha! :)
I'm totally guessing boy, for no real reason really, except it's the feeling I have right this moment.
ReplyDelete(Also: My sister is not finding out until the actual delivery. I intend on dying from The Anticipation before then. But I also think she's having a boy.)
I'm going to guess a girl. =) I predicted my best friend was pregnant with twin boys and squealed with delight when the ultra sound revealed just that.
ReplyDeleteEither way, you are adorable!
Sinclair? Marfo? Which is a boy and which is a girl??
ReplyDeleteHaha, I have no idea, but I'll say girl just in case I can win something :)
Squeeeeee either way!
Maybe it'll be a girl AND a boy?! There could be a twin lurking in there hidden...it happened to my Mom with me!
ReplyDeleteBut seriously...I'm going to guess a boy.
Either way, will be wonderful though! Then you can start brainstorming baby names! So exciting!
I'm usually wrong... but I think you are having a girl!
ReplyDeleteMy vote is for girl! Can't wait to find out!
ReplyDeleteGirl.
ReplyDeleteMostly because I *really* wanted a girl and I'm assuming everyone I know is having one. ;)
(I am absolutely THRILLED and MADLY IN LOVE with my baby boy, but in the back of my mind, I'm always a little scared I won't get to have a girl someday. Silly. I know. I should just be thankful for my ONE awesome, adorable baby!)
I'm so excited for you! I am currently 24 weeks pregnant with my first little one, and I can relate completely to how you're feeling. My motherly intution on our baby's gender went from a boy to a girl... and then it disappeared completely. By the time we had our ultrasound, I really had no idea what we were having. (Turned out to be a boy!)
ReplyDeleteI'm going to guess that you're having a girl. My very first intuition turned out to be the right one, and maybe yours is, too! :)
if this is going to turn into a baby blog/pregnancy blog, please tell me now.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous: Well, if you haven't caught on by now, I'm not sure what to tell you! This blog has always been a reflection of my life and what is going on in it. It's a personal blog. And I am thankful to have a place to record these incredible moments as my life shifts and changes!
ReplyDeleteWell said!
ReplyDeleteI love your blog!
I'm a new reader and just fell in love!
I think you're having a baby girl!! So exciting!!
Ohh this is just too cute! I have no idea but I will say girl. Because I want one myself :) But of course I know you both will be happy with either. x So so excited for you!
ReplyDeletegirl :D
ReplyDeleteI'd say just hope for what you'd really like? That worked for me xD And I hope it works for this pregnancy too :D
ReplyDeleteEither way I'm sure it will be great!
First, I have been following your blog for some time now and I have yet to congratulate you! Congratulations. Its an odd feeling to be so happy for someone you've never met, yet I am stoked that you've got a little one on the way!!
ReplyDeleteIts so fun to guess what you're having! I found out my first was a boy and I was a bit in shock, as if I didn't know that boy was even a possibility, duh! And after that 2 seconds past I was thrilled and excited and I love being a mom to a boy.
With my second, I knew the instant I looked at that positive pregnancy test that I was carrying my girl. My mini-me. And I love being a mom to a girl too.
Looking forward to hearing your good news on the sex. You'll be a fantastic mother.
I knew I was having a girl. I just knew. It never wavered.
ReplyDeleteI am excited to find out what you're having! Don't leave me hanging too long out here in cyberspace.
Oh, and can I just say... YAY FOR YOUR BABY!
So fun! I can totally relate on every single bullet point, my fellow prego friend! I started feeling girl a few weeks ago and our early ultrasound seems to support that theory, but we'll know for sure on April 13. Love that I'm right behind you - your posts are always so timely!
ReplyDeletegosh.... all signs are saying its a girl! i think maybe cyd broke the trend of boys at work and girls are the new trend, so I say GIRL! Plus I have a whole lotta girl clothes to give you if its a girl. But obviously if its a boy i will be insanely jealous because im ready for another bundle of joy (boy or girl). Cant wait for you to find out...
ReplyDeletepink!
ReplyDeletePink! Although I ALWAYS guess pink...
ReplyDeleteOh, let me guess real quick before you reveal tomorrow! :)
ReplyDeleteI think it's ... a girl!
Kerri, I can't wait to hear what it is. I've been following your blog since I stumbled on to it a few months ago and I check it religiously. You will be a great mother either way. My vote is a little girl.
ReplyDeleteBest Wishes
Crystal Marie
Hmmm. I totally see you having a baby girl ... but I'm going to guess BOY! I can't wait to find out! So exciting that you're going to find out tomorrow! Eeee! You're so close! Either way, you're going to be the sweetest mama!
ReplyDeleteToday is the big day!! Eeeee! My first thought was "girl" but since I'm usually wrong at guessing I'm going to say BOY!
ReplyDeleteI'm 30 weeks and we still haven't found out, but I'm just like you...at first I was all "Girl!" and now I'm all "I think it's a booooy in there".
ReplyDeleteJust know that my guessing game is off.
But I'd say girl for you :)
