on contentment...
This weekend was divine.
Time with sweet friends, sunshine on my shoulders, driving with the windows down, and listening to a new favorite song. A morning spent strolling through thrift shops with a sweet friend, a delicious lunch, encouraging conversation, and a coffee mug full of Butterfinger ice cream.
Nights filled with sweet dreams, sleeping in and staying under the covers for an extra thirty minutes, a head full of ringlets, and wearing a new (yet thrifted) dress. Looking at my body and smiling with contentment, phone calls with sisters, happy tears, and catching up on the latest season of my favorite show.
Time spent with myself, baking muffins while singing to Ingrid Michaelson, a cool breeze through an open window, and a clean duplex. Driving to LA on a warm afternoon, a light heart, sharing stories and secrets with close friends, and filling the first page of a new journal.
The past couple days have been just what I've needed. I love those moments that make you almost swell with happiness, the ones that give you such an emotional high that you wonder how you could ever second-guess anything about who you are or where you are or what you should be doing.
When it comes down to it, I'm incredibly happy. I'm incredibly blessed. Days like these help me remember that.
I love days when the little things are the best things. :)
