on a handmade holiday...
I've been happily crafting this holiday season and thought I'd share some of the projects I've completed! In looking at these items, it's wildly apparent that I have a serious obsession with felt. I am aware of this. I have embraced it. Honestly, there are so many ridiculously simple projects that can be completed with felt! (If you're looking for a website that has basically every color of felt you could dream of, try this one. It's where I get nearly all of mine. But don't blame me when you spend $52 on felt and your husband gives you the stink-eye.)
Moving along...
I've wanted to make a yarn-wrapped wreath for the past couple years, but it always seemed so intimidating to me! I'm happy to report that the above wreath is the third one I've created in the past month, it's something you can complete in the span of one evening, and (depending on how large you want it to be) it can cost less than $10 to make. Excited? I am. So excited that I may or may not put together some sort of tutorial within the next couple weeks. (Or if you don't want to wait, I know there are other tutorials out there already!)
The above wreath was the first one I made. I'm seriously giddy about making wreaths that can fit with both my holiday decor and my rest-of-the-year decor. Who says wreaths are just for November through December, anyway? I do not approve of that.
Below are some photos I took over Thanksgiving weekend, when I was having my own little crafting extravaganza. It was just me, felt, a glue gun, and Kevin McCallister (I do love me some Home Alone).
The above bits of felt were magically (or tediously) transformed into some leafy garland for our tree...
...and stockings (or just one, because it took freaking forever to complete all that stitching) hung (or pinned) on the chimney (or next to the heater) with care (or extreme force because our walls seem to be made of equal parts stone and ridiculousness).
I also added these ornaments to our tree, which I made last year. Oh, nostalgia!
I'm hoping I have time to complete a few more projects before Christmas arrives. We shall see. There are so many tutorials out there I've just been dying to try! In any case, it has been nice to add my own decorations this season. Makes me feel like I've really accomplished something.

Love those roses!

I love the wreaths! They're on my to do list of craftiness!
ReplyDeleteLove love love these wreaths. I've had all the supplies for MONTHS but have been so intimidated to make one. Mostly because I couldn't find a rose that I really liked (so weird... I know...) but yours are darling!! Did you just twist the felt as you wound in around? Inquiring minds want to know! :)
ReplyDeleteP.S. After looking at that felt site, the felt selection at JoAnne's just made me want to cry. But I'm pretty sure I'd be sleeping on the couch if I ordered what was actually in my virtual cart. So I went with the mediocre JoAnne's selection instead. Blergh.
Tutorial! Tutorial! :)
