on nubbins...

Muffin...or nubbin?

This post is brought to you by a mubbin. (Nubbin sized muffin = mubbin. Right? Right.)

  • I recently started the 30 Day Shred and I'm here to tell you that Jillian Michaels has officially robbed me of my ability to walk like a normal human being. Calves = meatloaf. I will be the girl hobbling around with a look of pure agony on her face for the next few weeks. On the upside, my calves will be glorious beyond all reason. Are bermuda shorts still appropriate this late in the year? Please say so. (Mostly because it's going to be in the high 80's all week here in Southern California. Hold me.)
  • I'm balancing feelings of exceptional accomplishment with those of complete and utter disaster. As much as I am able to complete from week to week, I feel like there are so many other things that I'm failing miserably at. Still, I'm trying to give myself credit where credit is due. And guess what? I'm determined to pick up a bit of the slack this month. November should be brilliant.
  • The other morning I was going through some of my saved emails and I rediscovered this little gem (via Notes from the Universe): "You can do it, Kerri. It's why you're there." It's amazing how the simplest words can have the most profound effect.
  • This past weekend was completely and utterly fantastic. A flea market, an aquarium date, cleaning and organizing, a couple bottles of wine, a delicious dinner and one or two scary movies. Also, I made some cookies that I need to post about this week! They are ridiculously delicious. I may or may not have already consumed close to a dozen. I have no shame, people!
  • Speaking of baking...if you're eager to make some "mubbins" of your own, simply pick up a mini-muffin tin and whip up a quick batch of these heavenly pumpkin chip muffins. My mom always makes these every autumn, so when I bake them myself I always feel all warm and cozy. Tip: Put a couple in the microwave for ten seconds and you'll have the perfect addition to your morning beverage!

  1. Oh Jillian and the calves. I couldn't walk for days after I did The Shred the first time. I don't think my heels went down I was so tense and sore.

  4. Okay I have to admit, I've had the 30 Day Shred for almost a year and haven't done anything with it. I really need to try this. Is it really that intense??

  5. I'm just starting the 30 Day Shred after Jillian's been glaring at me from the shelf since May. And by "starting", I mean I watched Level 1 for the first time today and had a bowl of ice cream ...

  8. yes. I feel the same way about November, especially after the sort of lackluster second half of October. Here I come, Month!

(Also, I'm sore after spending the weekend baking and playing kickball. I am so ridiculously out of shape. Halp.)

  10. I got Jillian's yoga DVD, Yoga Meltdown - aptly named. I have a very fierce love/hate with Ms. Michaels (mostly love - I only swear at her once or twice during the video.)

  11. I love aquariums and dates (also the activity, not the food) and this muffin recipe sounds delish. May need to make these sometime soon.

  13. Jillian's workouts will definitely whip your butt (and legs) into shape!!! I love her DVD. Another one I highly suggest is Jackie Warner's - she does circuit style workouts like the Shred, and her 15 minute upper body workout with weights has sculpted my arms like crazy! (but not in a gross, man-ish way)
And I love those little muffins!

  15. I also made pumpkin chip mubbins and have been eating them all. week. long.

In addition to the leftover Halloween candy I might add. What is it about tiny doses of sugar that seem so innocent?
