on holiday goodness...

a bit of peace.

The wreath is on the door. The Christmas movies have made their annual appearance. I literally just downloaded Hanson's Snowed In album to my iPod. I'm making a list (mostly involving food) and checking it twice (or seventeen times, because I tend to forget things). You know what this means: I've got the holiday fever! This tends to happen every year, right before Halloween and gets progressively worse until Thanksgiving hits and it is socially acceptable to wear Christmas socks and offer tidings of comfort and joy.

Over the weekend, I tried to convince Jay that it was definitely time to put up the tree, but he just gave me this look of pity, ate a tortilla chip and walked away while shaking his head. Oh, men. Sometimes they just don't get it.

In any case, I blogged about some of my favorite holiday traditions right over here! I think you should all head over there and get all wrapped up in the spirit of the season while sharing some of your favorite traditions with me. Please?

And now I'm going to go watch Elf and dream of fudge and snow. Amen.

  1. I wish I celebrated Christmassss. I WANT TO DECORATE.

(Actually, I would decorate anyway. If I weren't currently residing with my Jewish mother.)

  2. Wow! I can't even believe summer is over yet. I am looking forward to decorating more this year than I have in the past. Although a recent trip to Pottery Barn has me wanting to buy all new ornaments. Haha. Oh well.

  4. Ahhh, I LOVE THE HOLIDAYS!!! Ahem. Sorry. I got carried away.

One of my favorite traditions, is on Christmas Eve, my wife's family has fondue. Cheese and chocolate. TONS of fondue with every freakin' fondue food you can imagine. And wine. It's so relaxing, homey and DELICIOUS!!!

But my MOST favorite is every year, Jen and I have gotten each other an ornament (when we were long distance) and we get one together every year (since we've been together face-to-face!)

  5. I'm in love with this post just because I feel the same exact way! I REALLY want to put up the Christmas tree but we're having a huge party next weekend so I don't really want to deal with them asking me if I'm a weirdo. :P I'll do it the DAY after Thanksgiving!

  6. Me. too!!!!

I've been trying to hold off a bit but it isn't happening. I asked my husband about putting up the tree this weekend & he just shook his head at me.

That's okay, though. I'll just do it by myself! :P

  8. I couldn't agree more! I tried to tell Phil that I wanted him to get our Christmas decorations down from the attic and he kind of gave me a look and said..."don't you think it's a bit early?" Ummm...no. I can't wait for Christmas this year and the weather here is already cold. I even went to Starbucks last weekend and got a peppermint mocha because it's "Christmas in a cup."

  11. I pulled out the Christmas decorations as soon as November arrived. I have small snowflakes to hang around the room, hand-painted Christmas penguins from a friend, colored lights for the window frame in the bedroom, and Christmas candles to whip out. Though I will admit, if I turned on the Christmas lights now, the Boyfriend would be judging me. (I never take them down because they are a royal pain to put up each year)

I love the holidays. Friends, family, good food, hot drinks, and lots of holiday spirit - nothing beats all that. Who will be celebrating and watching various holiday movies beginning now? This girl. I am absolutely there with you in your readiness to celebrate the holidays.

  12. I don't let myself get excited until Thanksgiving week, mainly because I spend the next 5 weeks in EXTREME EXCITEMENT LIKE A FIVE-YEAR-OLD that I force myself to tone it down because of that.

Plus, there is no way my mom would let me bring out the Christmas decorations out this early. Le sigh.

I am beyond ecstatic because this year is the first year of my adult life that I will actually get to enjoy to holidays since I'm not in college anymore and not even technnically working at the moment. I am just going to soak in all the Christmas-y wonderfulness... CAN'T WAIT!! And this post just reminded me of all that and made me very happy!!! SO THANK YOU!! :)
