on a few notes...
(photo from last year's Vegas extravaganza - courtesy of Amanda!)
This weekend, I am attending Bloggers in Sin City for the second year in a row. Last year, it pretty much changed my life forever - if I may be so dramatic. I'm thrilled and nervous and giddy and awkward and every other little thing that one feels before heading out to meet a bunch of people they've never actually met. I'm happy that I live close enough to make something like this happen, and that I get to spend an entire weekend surrounded by people I love to bits and pieces.
I'm sure the weekend will involve too much giggling, wine and snuggles. Which I'm totally down for. Obviously.
I'm also nervous. Which I've learned to embrace. I've been going through photos of the fairly small get-together this whole thing was last year, and I keep thinking things like, "What if I don't know many people?" "What if nobody knows me?" "Why don't I fit into that dress anymore AHHHHHH HAAAATEEEE." But I know that it will be the same thing as last year - when all the nerves turned into a weekend full of complete and utter happiness.
That's what I'm hoping for, at least.
Also, I know I've taken a bit of a step back from the blogging world lately - and I always feel weird trying to rationalize it, yet also feel like perhaps I should explain why I've disappeared off the face of the internet for any given amount of time.
Let's just say that the new job has been quite the adjustment. I recently went from a cush job that was incredibly simple and familiar (considering I'd been there five years), to a new job in an incredible industry that I adore (I even had my own cubicle - yessss!), to a promotion that provided me my own office, a salaried position and an incredible amount of responsibility. I guess that I'm still learning to adjust a little bit. I feel a bit like a sponge in my desire to soak up every tiny bit of knowledge I can...and I'm pretty much in love with the job.
However, it has definitely taken a bit of time away from my crafting, blogging, and sitting-around-and-watching-reality-TV time. Oh, and email. I have received so many incredibly thoughtful, encouraging and all-around lovely emails lately. I promise that I will get around to answering them all very soon! I put a lot of pressure on myself to keep up with things like this, and I hate when I fall short. Please know that every single comment, email and "tweet" pretty much make me melt with happiness - and even if I don't have time to acknowledge every one, they are tucked away in my heart for the moments in my day where I feel my head may explode. (Moments like that happen more than I'd like to admit, actually.)
So, Vegas. This weekend. It's incredibly needed, let's just say that. And I'll make sure to have a complete update on things once I get back home! Oh, and for the record, I'm excited that I get to have my own Vegas shenanigan after Jay was able to spend a weekend there for a bachelor party a couple weeks ago. Seriously, Jay's friends need to stop getting married, because I'm so over this bachelor party business. I know that Jay getting Creed lyrics tattooed somewhere on his body is more likely than him getting all up in some random showgirl's business - but, whatever. A wife can't help but want to give her husband the stink-eye after that many days out with the guys in Vegas. Honestly.
I definitely need to have some good stories for Jay when I get home. That's all I have to say about that.
In short, I'm ready for this weekend. Amen and goodnight.
(Also, I wrote this post after two glasses of some sort of sparkling wine. Don't judge me.)

Yay! So glad the job is going well!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
SO. EXCITED. TO. SEE. YOU.
ReplyDeleteFountain jumping. Wine. Photo parties. Win!

ReplyDeleteYour blog is awesome. Somehow I always seem to relate to what you write.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the job, having a job you adore and your own office are like winning the lottery!
Have fun in Vegas!

"I know that Jay getting Creed lyrics tattooed somewhere on his body is more likely than him getting all up in some random showgirl's business - but, whatever. A wife can't help but want to give her husband the stink-eye after that many days out with the guys in Vegas."
ReplyDeleteI hear that. My bf went to a bachelor party in Vegas last month and I think the only reason I didn't go crazy with speculation and worry is that I went on a girls' trip to NYC at the same time. (And I am SO not a jealous or untrusting type. Like you said about Jay, I knew my bf wouldn't do anything either. At the same time, there are a bunch of other guys I don't necessarily know or trust... So yeah. :P)
Anyhoot, have a blast!
Have a fabulous time. I love that photo from last year. Looks like you had a blast!
ReplyDeleteHow fun! I'm so jealous!! Has anyone ever told you that you look like Jessica Simpson? Or the next Bachelorette girl (I forgot her name)? Very pretty!
ReplyDeleteI'm having my first blog giveaway if you would like to head on over! It's small but so worth it! ;-)
Sounds like you could use a break. Have fun, my dear!
ReplyDeleteI wish I was a popular enough blogger to even consider doing anything like BiSC!
ReplyDeleteI'm so jealous about Vegas! If I was in the northern hemisphere I'd very much go, it sounds so brilliant. Can't wait to read about all the adventures :)
ReplyDeleteThis is such a cute photo. I love when you post after a few drinks...
ReplyDeleteHave an awesome time! I am definitely going to make it to a blogger conference next year!
ReplyDeleteBest,
Hannah Katy
Have an amazing time, Kerri. I love the picture. So fun! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you're loving your new job. It's always a bit stressful those first few weeks and takes some adjusting. I hope Vegas was everything you hoped it would be and was the perfect mini vacation!
ReplyDeleteYay! I'm so glad you love your job! It makes ALL the difference in world, doesn't it?
ReplyDeleteThe even in Vegas sounds amazing! I hope you have a great time and I can't wait to see the pictures. I loved looking at all of them from last year! :)
So, so exciting to see you again!!!
ReplyDeleteSo exciting to hear that you like your new job. I hope you had a great weekend in Vegas - sounds like heaven. I need a girls weekend BAD. Hope it was fabulous and you feel refreshed!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your promotion and I hope you had a fantastic trip!
ReplyDeleteI'm just hanging out on your blog because I MISS YOU. And you're adorable. And I KNOW you have some stories for Jay.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I aggressively love you. And I'm aggressively happy that in my tiredness I mis-read this as Jay actually getting a Creed tattoo, but nope, I just didn't read it right. THANK GOODNESS.
If I was ever going to like too much of anything, it'd be YOU. xoxo
It was the best ever to see you, as always.
ReplyDeleteHi, I just wanted to say that I like you! I stumbled across your blog several months ago because I appreciated a comment that you left on a different blog. It was a blog that was written about how this particular woman did not care at all if her husband went to a strip club and yours was the ONLY comment that said.. "um... call me crazy but I disagree!" and I completely agreed with you. I admired your eloquent way of disagreeing with her, without sounding attacking or judgemental.
ReplyDeleteEver since then, I've very much enjoyed your blog posts! You write very clearly and I really resonate with the things that you say. Thanks for sharing so honestly. You are an inspiration and I kinda sorta feel like we're friends already or something :-) Crazy how blogging can do that, eh?
Anyway, I just figured that it's always a good idea to share the nice thoughts that I think... and I think you are lovely!
You look so cute in that picture! Can't wait to hear about your adventures.
ReplyDeleteI am so behind on commenting your blog, but yeah!!! I am so with you on the bachelor party business. My boyfriend just went to our friend's bachelor party in Vegas a couple weeks ago, too (actually, it was the same weekend as Bloggers in Sin City) while we had the Bachelorette party here. Definitely not as many shenanigans going on here as there were there!! But yeah. No one else is aloud to get married for a while... lol.
