on what I've been up to...

Oh, hello there.

Oh, hi! See? I do still exist, contrary to popular belief.

I miss writing, I really do. I've just been caught up in the whirlwind of family being in town last week (I'm ready for them to come back already, and they only left this week), the whole new job thing (I'm overwhelmed by all the incredible feedback on my last post; I can't possibly thank you all enough!) and the insane process of going from one job to another (I'm thinking I will require a handy list of all the things I need to take care of, written in cute handwriting on chartreuse paper), among other things. So, in lieu of writing a post that definitely needs to be written, I'll just post a few photos I took while my family was in town (there are a ridiculous amount more, but they have yet to be edited):

Such a cutie!

This was my nephew's first trip to Disneyland, and although he was too young to enjoy some of the finer establishments and delights of the park (those being, of course, Splash Mountain and monte cristos, respectively) he seemed to thoroughly enjoy himself! The poor guy was sick during part of the trip (which I'm sure wore out my sister and her husband!) but, for the most part, he was quite the trooper. And that Mickey shirt he's wearing? I found it at Target. For around $7. TAKE THAT, DISNEYLAND.

'His

I bought him his first pair of Mickey ears. Do you understand how adorable and tiny the infant ones are? I died a little inside when I picked them up. And the baby fever rages on, apparently.

Oh, those lashes!

Dear, sweet mercy! Could his eyelashes be any longer? It's a little ridiculous.

Too brave.

The weather in Southern California has been incredibly warm (this is why I don't own any sweaters, people) and during their last day at the hotel, my brother-in-law took Landon into the pool. (Don't worry. Those are actually swimmy diapers and not regular diapers. We are not disgusting like all the people who lived at the apartment complex Jay and I lived in when we first married. You know, the ones who would dip their children into the pool wearing regular diapers and/or completely naked. Gahhhh.) Anyway, Landon knew no fear and would "jump" right into the pool! I may or may not have squealed.

Nikki, stop growing up, mmmkay?

Okay, so, my sister Nikki (who is an avid blog reader of mine, "Hello, Nikki!") officially needs to stop getting older. And taller. Because she is only eleven and is already my height. And then took a bunch of clothes of mine that I no longer wanted, AND THEY FIT HER. My head almost exploded, it was that crazy. Anyway, I adore this photo of her. She is absolutely beautiful, right?

Lindsay.

My sister Lindsay was less willing to sit around and have a photoshoot with me, but I was able to get this shot which I love! She is sweet and silly and has a nose covered in freckles (which is the best kind of nose, really).

I have many photos yet to share, but there are some I want to put with a specific post I have in mind. I've been missing my little corner of the internet and hope to have more time to dedicate to it soon. In any case, I can't tell you how much every kind word, comment and email means to me! I wish there were enough hours in the day to reply to absolutely every one of them.

On a side note, I've struggled a lot lately with figuring out the best way to connect with people who are a part of my little community, and I know that sometimes I fall short of what is expected. Please know that even if I am not able to respond to you personally, that I read and appreciate every comment I receive. I honestly do. I hate to hurt feelings, and I apologize if anyone has felt overlooked. It was never my intention! (Cross my heart.)

Also, after a bit of deliberation (and in an attempt to keep in touch with more readers!), I opened up my twitter account. It is no longer private, so feel free to "follow" me if you would like to! I'm on twitter almost daily, which is much more often than I'm able to do much else internet-wise. So, if you care to keep up with my mindless chatter and other such shenanigans, then there you go!

  2. I just spent a (very short) week with my family in Germany, so I can relate to the happiness of being around your nephew and sibling.

Sadly, I only got to spend time with my family, because my Granddad passed away 3 weeks ago :(

I am excited about all the changes in your life! Good luck
