on my to-do list...

this year I will:
  1. learn that it's okay to say "no" sometimes, but also challenge myself to say "yes" to things I wouldn't normally do.
  2. cook more, wear my apron more, come up with a signature dish.
  3. once again reach and maintain my ideal weight, but love myself continually along the way.
  4. worry less.
  5. begin writing a book, even if I'm the only one who will ever read it.
  6. keep in better touch with my family and make more time for my friends (even when life is awfully busy).
  7. actively work towards being a full-time "creative" by the end of the year.
  8. give more.
  9. pray more.
  10. wear bright colors.
  11. do all I can to maintain a happy, giggly, safe & cozy, loving marriage with my husband.
  12. eat more greens.
  13. buy more flowers.
  14. ride my bike more often, even if it's just to the post office or the library.
  15. be brave.

What will you do this year?

(I've decided that resolutions don't have to be huge, life-changing things. They can be as small as deciding to buy a chartreuse throw pillow or getting bangs. And I may do both. You know, for the record.)

  1. I would love to se eyou experiment with bangs and brunette hair. Just saying.

I think your red beret is perfect for wearing bright colors! And number 2... when is our first attempt? :)

Love it all, love you, yay.

  12. I love your list of resolutions. They are brilliant! Oh, and I would totally read your book. You definitely have a way with words.

  15. oh how i really want to worry less, myself. worrying is the most draining of habits!

  16. I have to learn to worry less about other people, and do things for myself for once. I have to learn that my health should come before most other things, and that I shouldn't feel bad for needing to take a sick day.
I have to let go and enjoy things instead of worrying myself into a corner about everything.

I have to send a postcard a day for an entire year.

  17. I love buying flowers. Now that I finally have my own place maybe I'll do that more.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I love your list. I wanna worry lesss !!! and also say no sometimes.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I need to start wearing my apron more as well. Otherwise, I end up with flour all over my clothes!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Maybe one of my resolutions should be to GET an apron! I like your #5. Actually, all of these are great.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I'm with you on worrying less. I am such a worry wart!

    ReplyDelete
  22. I love your list. It inspires me to have better more meaningful goals. However, my biggest goal is finding an entry-level engineering job. With the economy these days, this is more like a challenge than a goal.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I love that you want to write a book!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Love love LOVE your list! I say a BIG ditto to numbers 1, 3, 4, 7, 11 (although sub relationship for marriage and boyfriend for husband), and 15.

Good luck to you in 2010!

  25. Awesome list! I love #15. Mine are to draw more, take more picutres, and be more confident with myself . . .

    ReplyDelete
  26. I love your goals! I ramped mine down all the way to "Slow Down" just to make it really do-able. I'm already going to be potentially finishing a 4-6 year program in a year and a half so slowing down when I'm not doing that seems like a good plan =)

    ReplyDelete
  27. I think you can do all of these with ease! Coming up with a signature dish sounds fun!!
I just want to be a better me this year.

P.S. I want to see the chartreuse throw pillow if you get it... =)

  28. I totally did number 5. Remember that first chapter you so graciously read for me when I first started blogging? Yeah, it's a finished little book. I think novella is the right term? Short novel? Anyways, you were part of the inspiration for me to finish it, so thank you for that. Oh yeah, and I'm baaaack! :D

  29. What a wonderful list! We have a lot of the same goals for this year - and I'll read your book! I started writing one years ago, maybe I should get back on track this year too.

    Happy new year! :)

    ReplyDelete
  30. i think that the smaller goals end up being the ones that are more attainable! this is a great list!

    happy 2010! :)

  31. Those are some lovely resolutions. I agree that resolutions don't have to be huge. I've already made a few for myself. Good luck in accomplishing them!

  32. happy new year, this list is so wonderful!
this year i want to be brave too...
you blog, as always, is a pleasure to read.
    xo

  33. Um! I just discovered your listography and LOVE IT. Plus, you are such the listy type, I almost got you a book completely dedicated to making lists... but I had already gotten your other one. haha. <3

  34. Well aren't you just the cutest ball on sunshine! Regarding the book-writing, you could do a lot worse than do the NaNoWriMo. I've always wanted to write a story, and it helps having other people to push you along.

    ReplyDelete
  35. #5 is on my list as well. And, since you mention it, the apron thing should be added too :)

    ReplyDelete
  36. i think i'll be adding 'buy more flowers' to my list, flowers always make me smile.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Love this list! I think bang would look amazinggg on you!

    ReplyDelete
  38. definitely with you on eat more greens. worry less. [learn to] cook. and learning how to say no. and being brave! so hard!

    ReplyDelete
  39. lovely list!!

I want to bike more (but I need to buy a bike first - a yellow one), send more snail mail and finally land a 9-5.

    ReplyDelete
  40. What a lovely to do list!! My list of things to do this year sound very close to your own but one of my main things is to Be Me. Why is it so hard to be ourselves and be ok with it?

    ReplyDelete
  41. My number-one resolution is the same as yours, but you're worded it exactly right - and I couldn't! All I could think of was "Say 'no' when I want to say 'no.' And say 'yes' when I want to say 'no.'" Which doesn't make any sense, except in my head!

And good luck on right colors - one of my resolutions is to wear more black... but, you know, with cool accessories.

    <3 Happy 2010!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Good luck on becoming a full time "creative" You are well on your way.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I love your resolutions! Very thoughtful and doable :) My number one was revamping my blog, which will be a work in progress. And number two is running a 5k in March - let the training begin!

    ReplyDelete
  44. wow. your resolutions are bright, sparkly and fun. there are so many things on your list that i would love to see for myself. here's to a new year & new decade full of wonder and delight! xo, ♥kaileenelise

  45. I will buy more things from Etsy because I'm pretty obsessed and I want to support creatives/handmade.

I will think less, do more.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I like your list! A lot of the items on your to-do list are similar to ones floating around in my head - be more gutsy, ride my bike more often, pray more, be more social ... things like that. :)

I'd love to write a book one day, but short of making it fiction or a collection of my best pieces of writing, I really have no idea what I'd write about that would take an entire book.

    ReplyDelete
  47. i really like your list! i really need to post my list too!

    ReplyDelete
  48. What a great list of goals... good luck :)

    ReplyDelete
  49. One of my goals is to be more encouraging.

That said, I'm new to the blogging world, and I don't even remember how I discovered your sight, but I LOVE it. The first blog I read was "on the things I miss" and I really almost cried. It reminded me of my sisters and my family growing up... and I've been reading you ever since.

You are a fantastic writer, and I'm so glad you've decided to share your life with all of us :)!!!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Can my resolution be to hang out with you more?

    ReplyDelete
  51. I think 1, 10, and 15 are my favorites. And I'm thinking of getting bangs too. I'm sort of scared though. You go first?

    ReplyDelete
  52. What a great and thoughtful list. Good luck!

    ReplyDelete
  53. Worry less. I'm in. Let's all try our best!

  55. Saying no... goodness, I know. I love your blog. It's so artisically inspiring! I'm so new to all of this, perhaps my blog will one day be as pretty. ^_^ Will be following!

    ReplyDelete
  57. How I love your resolutions!! A very lovely list. Many of mine are the same (just not put quite as charmingly. hehe)
I won't go into my very long list here, but there IS one that pertains specifically to YOU!
"Meet Kerri" (really! I put that on my list!)
    hear hear, 2010!! :)

happy new year, darling, I hope your year is wonderful and gracious and happy.

  58. Bangs are awesome.

We should start an "I'm going to write a book in 2010 even if it sucks" support group. I know of two other members already!

    ReplyDelete
  59. I love this for you! Seriously. 2010 is going to be an amazing year!
