on a few good things...

just a few good things.

Finally, finally it is beginning to feel like Autumn. There's nothing quite like it, really. Granted, I don't get the entire season-changing experience around these parts. Palm trees don't manage to change brilliant colors every October, we happen to have a shortage of apple orchards, and there are still days that soar into ridiculously warm temperatures. (At least I get a lot of use out of my flip-flops and tank tops. And don't have to pay for snow tires.)

But, still. I'm enjoying October like nobody's business.

Today, it even rained, much to my delight! It sounds a little ridiculous, but I literally have no idea when it rained last. I couldn't even tell you what month it was. (This is just one reason why I'm not exactly a fan of Southern California. Seasons much lately? I guess not.) In any case, there's nothing quite like the air after a good rain - or the fact that I get to see mountains in the distance that I didn't even know existed. I remember once, a couple years ago, I thought I was lost when I was driving home after a day of rain. There were these mountains in front of me and I totally freaked out. "What the heck? MOUNTAINS? HOLY CRAP, WHERE AM I?" I almost started biting my fingernails down to the nubbins until I realized that I wasn't lost, and that the mountains in front of me were usually just blocked by a hefty layer of smog. Mmmm, smog.

(It's official. I need to move back to the Northwest. You can quote me on that.)

But, anyway. Things have been good. I hardly have anything new and exciting to write about, but things are good. And that is definitely something to appreciate, right?

PS: Today, I was thrilled to discover that my etsy shop was featured on decor8's Take Five Tuesday! I think my brain melted from pure glee! (That's a good thing, I swear.) I am incredibly honored to be featured on such an incredible blog. I can't even express how ridiculously excited I am! I'm flattered beyond words. (Well, maybe not beyond words. Obviously. Heehee.)

  4. When you move back to the Northwest, will you take me??? :) Pretty please!!!! That's so funny that you talk about the mountains thing. This morning I was admiring the clean air and the fact I could clearly see the mountains that surround us in the valley. Two hours later it was blowing wind/dust like nobody's business! No more mountains :(

    Congrats on the shop ;)

  5. I was sooo happy when I woke up this morning to rain! Even though I have lived in California all of my life, I think I was meant to live somewhere, where it rains a lot. And I seriously love reading your blog, it makes me happy(I am not sure if that sounds weird or not so ya)!!!

  6. I have family all over California and thought they all had the good life. Especially in southern California where the sun always shines. So in my early 20s I packed up and moved from Seattle to Santa Barbara for 2 years. I moved back in 2004 was SO happy for the season change again! I felt like time just passes by in California because it's always sunny, except for the rare rainstorm or cloudy day. From what part of the NW are you?

  26. I'm in Vegas and just got back from a trip to New England (where I'm from, and I had to fight hard to keep back the tears on my first day back here. I miss the fall SO much. The hot, stale air of Vegas is suffocating me, literally and figuratively!
