on my current obsessions...

a few things I am presently obsessed with:

1. Taking my imagination to the next level. As in: I am, in my head, decorating the house we don't presently have (this includes a room with teal walls), re-planning the wedding I've already had (I blame the fact that two close friends are presently knee-deep in the whole process themselves), and coming up with awesome name combinations for my imaginary twin children (My favorite combination is "Emery & Eisley", but then I realize that maybe it's a little much to name both of them after bands - I mean, if we had triplets I'd have to name the third one "Creed" or maybe "Dave Matthews Band" and that would be mildly upsetting to everyone involved. But maybe not as upsetting as another option that makes me giggle, which is: "Kay & Jerry". You know, as in: Jay and Kerri and their children, Kay and Jerry. WOULDN'T THAT BLOW YOUR MIND?).

2. Planning my great return to the gym. Yes, I finally got a new membership. Yes, I am actually a little excited to try out the new treadmills. Yes, I am planning on ignoring any and all phone calls from the 24 Hour Fitness employee who is trying to get me to sign up for a personal training package (I think he senses my inability to say "no").

3. Coming up with ideas for a bunch of photography how-to posts. It's been a long time coming, mostly because I am no Pioneer Woman and when I think of actually giving advice about photography I can't help but think of how ridiculously unqualified I am. However, every now and then I have people asking about any tips I have on how to take better photos (which, for the record, flatters me to the point of heart meltage). So, I figure that it wouldn't hurt to at least share a bit of my photography knowledge. Just don't judge me when I am unable to rattle off technical information when it comes to my camera; I'm still referring to most of it's properties as "widgets". (I never claim to be professional. Obviously.)

4. Continuing my attempt at pulling off third-day-hair. And being a hot mess in the process. (Could I be more lazy? Really, guys. I have issues. Send help. Or shampoo?)

5. Fantasizing about this delicious ice cream treat and wanting to eat one every day of my life (cue: me being tacky and sending you over to my review blog to read all about the delicious, melty goodness):

Ben & Jerry's "Flipped Out!" ice cream.

  1. You do take some amazing photos. It doesn't matter if you're not a pro... you've got a talent that not everyone has. I'm sure we'd all benefit from any kind of advice. And I hear you on the hair thing. Mine is super long and thick.. I love it, but washing it is a CHORE.

  2. I just got back from the grocery store and I FORGOT my Ben and Jerry's coupon and I'm heartbroken. Maybe I'll remember next time, buy a twin pack of the peanut butter ones, and come surprise you with them. Then you'd love me even more.

Also? That bit about your future twin's names? Hilarious.

Anyway, I'm going to go to Forever21 to cheer myself up now.

  3. I read that bit about naming your kids Kay and Jerry to Joe and the conversation went a bit like this.
    Joe: "Oh no, that's awful."
Renee (laughing to the point where she's close to tears): "That's AWESOME!"
    Joe: "That. is. horrible."

Sigh. He has no sense of humor. Clearly, naming your kids Kay and Jerry is brilliant.

  5. Listen, you could totally pull off the 'Kay and Jerry' thing. Just have those as nicknames. Like, the girl would be Kaylee and the boy would be... okay so I haven't thought that far ahead, but still. Totally doable.

Also? Your Ben & Jerry's review post made me want one so bad that I finally went to the grocery store *just* for that. Luckily my boyfriend is coming over tomorrow so I am forced to share & not eat both in one swoop.

  6. The Kay and Jerry thing made me crack up, thus alienating those who are in the room with me. And I also want that ice cream. Now.

  7. I'm cracking up about Kay & Jerry...and laughing is no good when you have stitches in your tummy. Still, I love to laugh!

Also, I would LOVE to read some photography posts. I'm such a moron when it comes to my camera. I need a lot of help!

  8. Oh so THAT'S how you're supposed to eat that. We got those Ben and Jerry's flipped out thingy's and I thought they were a bit awkward. Maybe I should have read the directions. (Were there directions??)

And I'm still laughing about Kay and Jerry. OMG!

  10. I love your dedication to 3rd day hair. I've tried many-a-time and failed miserably. I end up looking SO dirty.

Keep fighting the good fight, girlfriend.

  11. Oh my GOSH. I re-plan my wedding in my head all the time. It is a serious problem. I keep thinking; If only I had chosen these bridesmaid dresses, or if only I had chosen these colors. I am convinced my sister will hate me when she gets married because I will be trying to live vicariously through her.

  12. I only ever like my hair at three days. Good stuff.

Also, I *LOVE* your pictures. They are one of my favorite parts of your posts. On a related note, the link to Pioneer Woman is making me so insanely happy right now ... it makes me want to go tell my camera I'm sorry, and start using it again.

  13. I'm pretty much in love with the name Emery. But my imaginary-their-births-are-way-off-into-the-future children's names have already been decided. Andrew and/or Lily. So the best I can hope for is to name my dog's girlfriend Emery when she comes along.

  14. I am also planning my grand return to the gym!

  15. I have a scrapbook of wedding plans and I've yet to be in a serious relationship.

..and I love the Kay and Jerry idea. However, you coordinate all of your outfits to match if you name your children that.

  16. 1. Did you hear that explosion? That was my mind blowing.

  17. Please, oh please call your children Kay and Jerry!

Also send me an ice cream desert please!

  18. i can pull off third day hair! you just have to keep telling yourself that its HEALTHIER for your hair and throw a little baby powder on it for good measure.
btw "Emery & Eisley" sounds like ebony & ivory and it makes me giggle.

  19. I'm happy you enjoyed the Flipped out icecream, because I won free coupons for them and I can't wait to try it! The coupons are only valid in the US so I have to wait until November to try it! :)

  20. I cannot wait for your photography posts. So excited!!!

  21. I had some serious re-wedding planning issues for my first few months of married life, so I've been trying to focus that on planning an elaborate milestone anniversary party. Currently it has a Gatsby theme.

Worst twin name combination from my high school history teacher's wife's PreK class: Rhett and Scarlet. A little too incestuous. Makes Dave Matthews Band seem like a wonderful name.

  25. you made me literally laugh out loud at the Kay and Jerry. Love it! And I'm agreeing with the commenter about how those could just be nicknames. Hilarious.
And yes, you rock the camera!

  26. I was at the grocery store the other day and saw what I thought were those yummy sundaes; I remembered your blog post, so I picked them up. However, they were made by "Edwards" (I think), and they were just okay. Next time, I'll remember that they're Ben & Jerry's! :)

  27. I am also a fan of rocking third day hair, it just makes life so much easier. I am on a mission to find these ice cream treats.

  28. Your twins names are amazing. You've inspired me to name my twins (if ever I have them) Eric and Denise. Erica and Denis and their kids Eric and Denise.
