on being in a moooood...

this photo makes me happy.

I'd kind of like to plop down in the grass, have everyone leave me alone and just watch the world around me. Like my adorable nephew, Jonas, on the fourth of July. (Except I may not wear bright red crocs, because that would just be awkward.)

Unfortunately, I can't do any of that right now, because I am not a wee child. I have things to do. I have responsibilities. I have people to call and emails to write and mail to send. I have crusty dishes to wash and a couple loads of laundry to take care of. I have a husband, friends, family to keep up with.

(And we actually live on the corner of a fairly busy street, and if I sat on the grass just staring at people, they'd probably think I was crazy-pants. Which is something I'm pretty sure I couldn't handle right now.)

Yes, I'm in a bit of a funk. My mood has been completely hot-and-cold, which means my husband is irritated with me, I am irritated with him, and he sporadically sings me a song that goes: "Grumpy grumpy grumpy, happy happy happy!" It does highlight my bipolar tendencies these days. So, I'll at least give him that much.

Anyway, tomorrow is another day. And I rather look forward to it.

  1. You're right. Little kids pull off red crocs in a way that grown women never can.

I totally feel your bitchy pain. I had a rough couple of days during which I was just unhappy and moody and taking it out on the wrong people at the wrong times. It turned out that all I needed was a good conversation with my best friend and a new project to work on. My outlook has seriously improved!

Hope your grumpy days pass and you're on to rays of sunshine very soon!

But don't feel bad... We're all entitled to those days :)

  2. You basically just wrote the story of my life. If I were there, we could sit in the grass (sans Crocs, because, um...) with some wine and chocolate and talk or not. I'd even throw in a hug.

I'm sorry you're feeling so hot and cold and icky. It's basically the worst, and unfortunately, an AT LEAST weekly event in our house. Andrew is convinced I'm freaking insane. Which I sort of am.

Anyways: moral of the comment? Feel better, be nice to yourself, and don't be afraid to take a minute away from those responsibilities and listen to some John Mayer and drink copious amounts of wine. xoxo

  5. I'm being bad this week too. I mean, I just got back from Mexico...how hard can life be? But yet, I'm insanely annoyed by everyone and everything. I'm also PMS-ing though so um, go figure. Anyways, drink some wine and watch something fabulously trashy on TV. It does wonders for me! Cheers!

  8. Don't forget to take a little time for yourself to relax amongst all the busyness in life. Maybe 5 min of watching people through the front window (so no one can say you're crazy.)

  11. I don't think crocs should be worn on anyone older than the age of four. Regardless of the colour.

I think it's something in the universal air lately. I've been in a stupid funk for the last few months, and I'm only JUST starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I hope yours doesn't stick around as long as mine.

  12. That is a catchy little tune. I've been pretty grumpy with Andrew lately too... which he totally deserves. YOU ARE A MAN. YOU HAVE TO KILL BUGS. WHY ARE YOU BEING SO DIFFICULT?!

  14. I know exactly what you mean! If you ever want someone to plop down on the grass with you, I'm only a phone call away. Because it sounds amazing! And, if we do it together, it's probably okay.

  17. So is "Grumpy grumpy grumpy, happy happy happy" one of the verses to "Welcome welcome welcome to our Market Market Market?"

  18. Just the other day I had the urge to lay down in the grass and stare at the clouds for an hour. I couldn't because a) I was at work, b) it was raining and c) therefore there were no clouds but it would have been lovely to just pretent for a minute that I'm a child again.

Wouldn't it be great if we could have an "Easy" button to push in real life, like they have in the Staples commercials?

    xoxo

  20. the photo is cute. love it.

buy yourself a real ROCKIN' pair of red shoes (not crocs) - maybe that will help the mood?

sending happy bubbles your way! :)

  21. Hectic times. Everything swirling around you. Everyone needing something from you. We chicks are multitaskers and all, but sometimes enough is enough.

I think ignoring the world...with a cup of English breakfast tea might do the trick.

  24. I've been feeling really moody lately, pretty much all week. It's more like I'm in a sad funk, with bouts of irritation and sporadic happiness. It's driving me crazy.

  25. I understand how you feel. Sometimes I really, really just wish I could go back to childhood and appreciate the total lack of responsibility I had. Well actually I was responsible for having fun and playing and eating my vegetables...lol. But, being grown up comes with it's own advantages-we get to fall in love, accomplish our dreams, make a difference in this world...sometimes it's even better to be an adult.
