on our Wednesday (in photos and captions)...

Free glasses.

Our complimentary wine glasses, from our tasting in San Diego. (Or: Proof that we did once own two of these glasses, since Jay accidentally shattered one this morning while making a bagel sandwich.)

The hubby with his wine.

Jay's adorable face. (Or: The moment where I was lucky enough to get a real-ish smile on the first try from my husband without having to beg and plead.)

I'm basically a wino.

I love wine. (Or: Wondering why they don't fill the glasses to the brim, because I would totally pay extra for that.)

wine tasting.

The artistic shot. (Or: How I had to tell my husband, "Okay, hold still, I need a photo of your hands real quick," and he was totally judging me.)

Any restaurant that quotes Dumb & Dumber on the menu is my BFF.

The lunch menu at the Stone Brewing Co. (Or: When I fell in love with this restaurant simply based on the fact that they literally quoted Dumb and Dumber on their menu.)

Hippie! With beer! WIN!

Our tour guide. (Or: The crazy/awesome hippie who walked around drinking beer during the tour, to which I nearly asked, "HOW DO I GET YOUR JOB AND CAN WE HANG OUT SOMETIME?")

Some nubbins that go into beer, apparently.

Some sort of nubbins that are part of the beer-making process. (Or: Nubbins. That's all I've got. The end.)

Samples!

Getting our free samples after the tour. (Or: Something I need to add to my List of Things to Have in our Kitchen When We Have Millions of Dollars. And the crazy/awesome hippie may or may not be included on that list.)

No, I'm not twelve.

Me with what looks to be my second sample. (Or: How I find it questionable that they serve beer to twelve-year-olds. Or: WHY DO I NOT AGE? Seriously. I guess I'll appreciate this fact when I'm 40.)

the one where we've had too many beer samples.

Us crazy kids, after a few too many beer samples. (Or: The one where Jay's mouth looks a little bit like a creepy puppet mouth, and it totally makes me laugh.)

the mirror photo - always.

After it was safe to drive away, I decided to take yet another gratuitous side-mirror photo. (Or: What I would apparently look like with awkward bangs and a very short haircut - and a smile of pure, unadulerated joy brought only by a day filled with adventures with Jay.)

  1. Beer tasting!? Where?! Sign me up! I LOVE LOVE LOVE wine tasting, but my husband DETESTS wine with a firey passion (much like he detests coffee, which I consider to be a food group. Seriously, how did we fall in love?! Don't know how he won me over... guess it must be his smashing good looks...). ANYWAY. I think he would totally go for beer tasting though...

Um. Okay. This may sound slightly stalkerish. But where the heck do you work or at least what the heck do you do?! Several of my friends and I are dying to know what ridiculously cool job you have, but stalkings on your blog have not alluded to exactly what type of spectacular job you have. We have our hypothesis, of course. But do tell... or at least give hint!!! :)

  4. That looks like SUCH a fun day! No wonder you were excited :)

Beer and wine tastings are some of the best things in the world, in my humble opinion. My friends and I did the Sam Adams Brewery Tour last month, and it was a blast. Free beer definitely didn't hurt, either.

Also, movie quotes on a menu? Ultimate win.

  5. Looks like you guys had a fun day!

    1. I take pics of Kyle's hands and stuff like that. He used to tell me it was ridiculous but now he just humors me.
    2. Kyle said we need a mini-keg in the kitchen and I agreed...Your pic of all the taps reminded me of that. It is proof that HE is rubbing off on ME, not the other way around like I planned.
    3. About serving beer to 12 year olds...a waiter once asked me if I was 21, I said yes, and he served me wine. No carding, just took my word for it. We were like, "WTH?! REALLY?!" And then I said that I loved that man for believing that I was 21.

  16. That looks like so much fun! I've been wanting to go on a tasting tour for a while, I think I'll definitely have to go now- looks like fun!

Also, I love that Jay broke a wine glass while making a bagel lol I'm sure the context was that there were dishes out but I have a great mental image of him sipping on a syrah while buttering a bagel = )

  17. Is Stone Brewery not the greatest thing since sliced bread? I was completely smitten the first time I went too. Next time you are in SD, I'd be happy to show you around some other equally fabulous spots (re: restaurants and bars)!

  18. looks like a great day, i LOVE the photos. thanks for sharing!

  19. Isn't it amazing that if you work at a brewery, you're basically forced to drink throughout the day? My boyfriend works at a brewery in Placentia (The Bruery, in fact. You should check it out!) and they actually have morning meetings where they HAVE to drink beer. Oh darn.

  20. Looks like fun! I can't believe the Dumb and Dumber quote on the menu, that's hilarious!

  21. Oh, your hubby's a cutie! You make me want to get out and get to a wine-tasting soon!

  22. Okay, you fully had me lawling, reading those captions. Seriously!

The Dumb and Dumber quote... I abuse it at nearly every restaurant I visit. The fact that they have it on the menu makes me want to go there, like now.

And the bum totally looks like he would fit in with my mom's side of the family... I want one!
