on a few good things...
a few good things:
- Finding an adorable dress at a thrift store. I rarely find anything I like (for a reasonable price) when I go thrifting with Jay. However, this little gem stood out to me right away and I completely fell in love with it. It is made of the softest cotton, and pretty much the most comfortable dress in all of humanity. It makes me feel like I should eat some hummus and sing some Indigo Girls' songs and perhaps make a head wreath out of wildflowers and wear it all day long.
- Discovering that I'm able to attend what is quite possibly going to be the greatest Vegas trip in history. I get to meet so many of my "online friends" in real life, and am absolutely giddy with excitement! It is still over a month away, but I'm already anticipating the shenanigans that will soon begin.
- Getting started with wedding planning for one of my best friends. Also? I'm the maid of honor. Yessss. She is seriously going to have the most beautiful wedding ever - she is so creative and has such an eye for design. And you should see the bridesmaid dresses she chose. They're from J. Crew. Navy blue. Classic cut. I'm definitely a fan.
- Going on our first bike-ride-to-the-beach of the year. Granted, I am apparently horribly out of shape. Granted, on the way back I had a few moments where I literally wanted to cry out of sheer exhaustion. Granted, Jay felt the need to point out how many small children flew past us on their bikes. Granted, I haven't been able to sit my bum on a hard surface without wincing in pain for the last 48 hours. But, really? It was worth it.
- A surprisingly busy weekend at work. Oh, and this is the one weekend out of the year where we get to wear t-shirts to work. Probably the greatest thing ever. I'm really fighting the temptation to have a sacrificial burning of my nylons, but I know that I'll probably need them on Monday.
- Extra money, due to BlogHer ads and my etsy shop.
- Reading The Geography of Bliss, by Eric Weiner. One of the greatest books ever! Seriously, I can't put it down. (Which is good, because it's due back at the library today.)
- The freckles that make their annual appearance around this time of the year. And I'm not just talking face freckles. I also get them on all my joints. Someone once mocked me when I said that, and I realized that perhaps it isn't the most normal thing in the world. "Oh, freckles? I have them on all my joints. Don't you?" Freckles always appear on my knuckles, elbows, and knees every Spring and Summer. It's fun. It's like a tan, but not.
- Feeling happy. And thankful.
- Guacamole. What else is there to say, really? I could eat it every single day. Perhaps I shall.
So excited you will be going to Vegas! Can't wait to meet you :)

ReplyDeleteKrystal
I could eat guac every day, too. Oh, summer, how I love thee.
ReplyDeleteYES. VEGAS.
ReplyDeletePerhaps I need to read that book you listed in #7. I'm in the need of a good read. And I read that book Love the One You're With. It was a nice and easy read. AND I just watched that Diane Lane/Richard Gere movie you're netflixing.
ReplyDeleteSooo many coincidences. Ha! I'm being silly...
That dress is so adorable! Does it fulfill your hippie needs? :)
ReplyDeleteImagine me squealing this next sentence: I'm so excited for Vegas!!!!
And confession: I go to Chipotle all the time just for the guacamole. and get this: my husband used to work there, made their guacamole all the time, remembers how to make it and WE HAVE NEVER HAD HOMEMADE GUACAMOLE IN OUR HOME. Seriously. Contemplating divorce for fraud. I thought I was marrying a guacamole machine and this has not come to fruition.
