on how I want to make out with my sewing machine...
My second project with the sewing machine (AKA: my lover). It is a sweet little eyeglass case! I don't have any supplies to make anything from a pattern, so I just came up with this little guy on a whim.
The case is lined with soft, green felt. I sewed two circles of felt and a tiny, yellow button on the front to add a bit of prettiness.
I really need to get some supplies to make some projects from a couple books that I have had collecting dust. I have had Bend the Rules Sewing by Amy Karol for ages, but haven't been able to do any of the projects without a sewing machine. I absolutely can't wait to go out and get some more fabric! There are seriously the cutest projects ever in that book. I am going to make everyone aprons and elf hats for Christmas next year. Just you wait. It's going to be awesome.
Is it weird that I get seriously giddy whenever I start sewing something? I love the sound the sewing machine makes, and it truly sparks my creativity - I love the idea that there are a million things just waiting to be made. And all it takes is me to create them. I remember being twelve (which is probably the last time I used a sewing machine before now) and feeling amazed by the fact that all it took was a bit of fabric and this machine, and you could actually make something beautiful with it.
It still amazes me.
I told Jay that this sewing machine is going to change my life. And I was serious. Who knows? I have a lot to learn, but the learning is going to be so much fun. That much I know.
all of your projects are so adorable. i love them. i only wish i was half as good as you.
ReplyDeletesigh.
Ooh, I so love it. Will you sell any of these in your etsy shop? I'd love one ... or five.
ReplyDeleteSo adorable!
Love it! I really like the colors. My mom is a sewer and I wish I had her talent. Sewing is an art and is not easy! Your eyeglass case looks effortless.
ReplyDeleteReally, are you going to make aprons?! I really need one!!
ReplyDeleteThat is so lovely! The colors are really soothing. I made a sunglasses case just last week. They are so quick and fun. You should make those for gifts too!
ReplyDeleteIt's so pretty! Well Done!
ReplyDeleteVery cool! Have you thought about making bags to match your wallets?
ReplyDeleteSo cute! I wish I could get the fabric that you guys have - the selection in Canadian stores is about a third of what you guys have, it drives me up the wall!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work!
Soo cute, I love the pattern you came up with. You are so talented.
ReplyDeleteAnd definitely not weird, I think you're right, when something spurs you to create and hone your skills it doesn't matter what it is.
Perfect. :)

ReplyDeleteTHAT IS SOOO CUTEEE. I imagine how it would be in purple, loves itt
ReplyDeleteJust don't learn the lesson of how to mend your husband's jeans without sewing the pocket shut the hard way. Like I did tonight. I'm new too! But I like knowing that I'm not the only one who hasn't been doing this forever.
ReplyDeletevery cute!
ReplyDeleteIt's fabulous! I've been wanting a sewing machine, so I'll live vicariously through you until I have my own! :)
ReplyDeleteFrom a strictly manly perspective, that's pretty cool.

I love it, since I suck at using a sewing maching you are going to have to start making these for your shop. I need one for my glasses.
ReplyDeleteYay! That is so cute. Are you going to add them to your shop? If you're thinking of things to make, I could really use a business card case with yellow incorporated somehow. :) LOL.
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way when I get a camera in my hand. I love you excited you are! I'm excited with you!
Adorable!
ReplyDeleteVery cute! I love your projects!

Ahhh, I would cry without my sewing machine. (I've been sewing, like, forever! Okay, with a sewing machine since I was 12. But still.)
I have been wanting to make eyeglass cases in for-ev-er. Maybe I'll get around to it soon.
Very cute fabric!
I wish I wore glasses so I could have that :) I LOVE it!
ReplyDeleteawe - this is completely adorable!
ReplyDeleteyou are a sewing machine.
oh. hah. that doesn't work for 'sewing' very well. we'll go with, 'you are a crafting machine'. thats (a little) better.
Good luck! I know you're going to have the best time with your machine. I know I sure do! And your projects are so cute. I can't wait to see what you'll make next. :-)
