on some things to be happy about...

This is a result of my trying to take a photo while being tickled.

1. I found out yesterday that I won both the categories I was nominated for in the Twenty-Something Blogger Bootleg Awards! I won for Most Distinct Voice and Most Sincere. And honestly? I'm completely and entirely honored, thrilled and giddy about this. To have people define me in either of those ways is probably the biggest compliment a girl can get. So, thank you, to each and every person who took the time to vote (as well as my favorite teens and thirty-somethings who voted in their heads, because you're all peaches, too!). It's truly an honor to receive these awards, and seriously makes my heart want to explode with love for all you guys. Since a group hug is perhaps not in the cards for us (which is a little sad), please know that my heart is exploding over here (which is actually a little messy, but that's okay) and I am so, so touched. Thank you all, again and again! PS: The above photo is probably the most intense picture of my face I could find, but I figured that it best represented my pure, unadulterated joy. Hopefully it won't scare the children. I promise I won't eat them.

2. My sister is going to be having her baby boy within the next couple weeks - and I can hardly believe it! It still doesn't seem real. It's hard to imagine that we're all grown up and that she's starting a family. (Wasn't it just last week that we were giggling in our rooms about the boys we had crushes on, and plastering our rooms with Hanson posters?) She is such an amazing person, and I can't wait to see her as a mother! Her husband is going to be an amazing father, too - he and my sister have always been such an inspiration to me. They've waited quite a while for little Landon to come along, and they deserve every ounce of happiness that he will bring them. Eeeee! Babies! I love it! And as much as I'd love to be there for the birth (no, seriously, I told my sister that I totally wanted to be in there holding her other hand, feeding her ice chips and helping her with the breathing exercises) I will hopefully be able to hop a plane and get there within the first couple days of his arrival. I'm crossing my fingers.

3. I'm so incredibly thankful for each and every comment I received in response to my last post. When talking about body image, I know it's always a touchy subject. Especially in this day and age, I can't think of any female who isn't incredibly affected by the world around them - how it influences the way we view ourselves and the unattainable standards we sometimes hold ourselves to. It's tough. It's ridiculous. It's frustrating. And it's something that we all have to fight. Having said that, thank you for your thoughtful and encouraging responses! I've taken each and every one to heart. It helps to be reminded to keep it all in perspective, to realize that there is a happy balance between being healthy and happy, and that doing the best I can is certainly good enough. (And we certainly all deserve a few cheats along the way, just for morale. Mmmm, Starbucks.) Thank you for sharing yourselves with me and just being honest. More than anything, I've found that when I break myself down a bit and share things that I'm struggling with or frustrated about, there are so many people out there feeling the exact same things. So, thank you for just letting me be honest with all of you, and doing the same for me. We're all in this together! (I may or may not be quoting High School Musical. You be the judge.)

  25. I vote that you ARE quoting HSM!! I won't lie to you. I'm so very into HSM, Hannah Montana, Jonas Brothers and Camp Rock, it quite ridiculous. But you should know as well as me, working at Limited Too causes you to either embrace your inner seventh grader or shoot yourself. I chose the former.
BTW, Limited Toos everywhere have now changed to Justice and they suck!! I hate Justice!!
Ok, on the other stuff, CONGRATS! I wanted to vote for you but there was all kinds of signing up to do that I meant to do later, but never got around to. So I totally voted in my head. ;)
And being an aunt is SOOOOOOOO fun!!!!!! Nephews are the greatest!! Especially my handsome red-headed one. :)
