on my sister and her baby belly...

I'm going to cry. That much is official.

For the record, my sister totally didn't give me permission to take this photo off her blog. Or to fudge with it and add warm colors and rounded corners. Or to add writing to her belly. Or to post it on my blog. Details, schmetails. In any case, I don't care! Also, for the record, I told her to keep all of her maternity clothes to give to me someday, because the girl has a freaking amazing wardrobe. She dresses better than I do. It's slightly upsetting, but will be nice when I get knocked up one of these days. (One of these days = a day so far into the future that it is merely a speck on the horizon of life.)

But there is a point to this post, I swear. The fact is, she went into labor this morning. LABOR! WHAT! Like, right now she's probably starting to chew on ice chips and scream at her husband. (That's what you do when you're in labor, right? Okay, so maybe my entire perception of the birthing process comes from chick flicks and episodes of Friends. Don't judge me.)

I just got a phone call about it from my parents, and they're heading up to see her right now! I'm totally breaking apart at the seams, knowing that I can't be there with her right now. Like, I'm going to be sobbing into a pillow within the next four hours. You don't even understand. My husband's going to be all, "Um, you kind of look like you're the one who is in labor. Just saying." I'm hoping I'll be able to get time off work this week to fly out there and see everyone. However, until then, I will be keeping all my thoughts and prayers and giddiness with her. I hope you all will, as well! This is her and her husband's first little babushka, so I'm sure the whole giving birth thing is a wee bit intimidating the first time around.

She's going to be a mom! Sweet moses! I can't wait to meet the little guy.

  1. Oh my gosh! Get to the airport!! Or get someone on the phone - wait hospitals don't....ugh! Okay, get a walkie talkie so you can talk to them while she's there! Can she call you if she's not in the throes of labor?

I hope you can go visit her soon - congratulations Auntie!
