December 22, 2008

on what I've done and must still do today...

just the two of us.

1. Beat Jay at Wii bowling four times in a row. (Yes, we finally got our Wii up and running! Hurrah! I shall be stuck in front of the television for the next six months straight! You think I'm kidding, but I'm totally not!) Be seriously excited to have won against him at any game. (Because, dude. It never happens. Ask around.) Decide I am the greatest Wii bowler in all the world and even come up with a victory dance and a song that goes something like, "Queen of the spares! Queen of the spares! La la la!" Annoy husband with said dance and song. Continue dancing and singing anyway because, well, I'm queen of the spares. And I think I deserve a victory song and/or dance. (We all do, really.)

2. Post a photo that has absolutely no relevance to the writing at hand, simply because the photo makes me happy. I don't even know what's going on in this photo, actually. I think it was one of those moments where I was trying to get a good photo of us and he was flat-out refusing to give me a good smile. I thought I would be able to persuade him by making him laugh. Kind of like how the photographers are with the little kids at the JC Penney photo studio. Except my act did not involve baby talk. (Well, maybe a little. Don't judge me.)

3. Participate in a gift exchange at work. Get the largest Ghirardelli gift basket in all of humanity. Be very, very ridiculously excited. Chocolate = happy girl. (Hallelujah. Amen.)

4. Realize I have yet to purchase two gift cards and one last gift for Jay - which requires me to make a trip to the mall this evening. Ew. I wish that I could just give everyone a bunch of felt magnets and call it a day. Wait. Maybe I can? Wait. Do I even have time to make them? Arrrrgh. Oh, December. You stress me out. (Or perhaps it's just my procrastination that is getting the best of me. Details, schmetails.)

5. Try to relax. Try to enjoy the rest of this holiday season. Try not to miss my family too much. Try not to be disappointed about not getting Jay on Christmas morning due to him having to work. Try not to eat my entire basket of Ghirardelli chocolates in one sitting. Try to not let certain people get under my skin. Try to remember what matters. Try to take a deep breath and just be happy. (I will prevail!)

  2. He has an amazing smile - good work with the baby talk! And good luck with fending off the crazies of the season - I have a feeling that more bowling may be in order.

Just be careful with the boxing - I've injured myself and it's really embarrassing!

  6. Ugh, I work at a mall and it is not so much fun being around last-minute shoppers. It's the percentage that are rude and bad that ruin it for everyone.

That picture is adorable, and how exciting that you are the Queen of Spares! ;)

  9. Any stress is ALL December's fault and not due to our own procrastination. At least, that's what I keep telling myself.

  12. That picture is cute.

So candid and full of real life-ness.

    Or something like that.

I hope the mall wasn't too crazy. I shudder at the thought. I figured out a way to put off any shopping except the internet and a brief trip to Sephora the day after Christmas, since Christmas day is at the in-laws this year.

    It makes me happy.

(PS: Good luck with the prevailing. I'm pretty sure God can help you out with the being relaxed stuff. You're totally not alone.)

  15. Wii is amazing for husbands and wives because it gives us a fair shot at winning! You should get Mario Kart...you get real little steering wheels and you can race each other. It's amazing! Hope the mall didn't suffocate you!

  26. I think beating our husbands at wii bowling is our reward for suffering through real-life bowling for so many years. I mean I am just horrible at bowling, but the wii levels the playing field.

Plus if Cale beats me at the wii, he knows I will pout the rest of the night.. so he kindly allows me to win.
