on a few (more) changes...
So, be prepared for a few more changes around here. At the urging of a lovely lady, I decided to finally purchase a domain for my blog and am working on switching things around.
(And I'm changing my blog name, too. Just to make things more confusing for everyone involved. Don't hate me.)
However, in all honesty, I hope this is a good change. I've been pondering the whole thing for a while now, so I think it just took that last nudge to get me to make an actual decision. (I'm a non-decision-maker, remember?) And, really, when I created this blog, I didn't even know if I was going to keep it. I was getting bored with my other blog, considering it was private and I didn't feel I had all the opportunities to truly get out there, if that makes sense. I decided to make a public blog one day, and voila! That was that. I couldn't come up with a unique name for the new blog, so I decided to go with a basic, "simply, me." I liked to think of it as how I would sign a letter, or something. Not sure that's how it came across, but that's what was floating around in my little head when I decided on it. And since that was already taken for a blog address, I couldn't come up with anything remotely close and finally was all, "Okay, yeah. This is lame." And that's the magical meaning behind the whole, "okayyeah.blogspot.com" thing. Lovely, right?
In any case, I started the blog and the rest is history. For some reason, it just ended up working and has really grown a lot in the last year. More than I would have ever thought it would, to be honest. (Um, over 300 people subscribed to my feed? Is that crazy or what? I love it.) I want to do even more with my little nubbin of the internet, so perhaps this is just the next step.
The new name? It is "your wishcake". (Kind of like my etsy shop. Okay, exactly like my etsy shop.) I think it will make things a wee bit more unique, though, which I like. The new address will be www.yourwishcake.com. I would have gone with just "wishcake" but apparently it's taken. Stupid folk singers took wishcake.com for no other reason than to spite me, or something. (Actually, that's probably not why, but REALLY? WISHCAKE? WHO COMES UP WITH THAT? Except for me. Obviously.)
So, please be patient while I fudge with this whole thing and hopefully make something beautiful out of it. I guess we shall see.

Congratulations on your very own domain! I just know this is a good move for you!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see what 2009 has in store for you and your site!
Me again! I think you need to go to feedburner and create (burn?) a feed for the new site so we can subscribe to it!
ReplyDeleteOk that is almost exactly how my name came about too! And when ppl ask, I feel like they expect some insightful explanation and I'm all, um, no really I was just bored and uninspired one day!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for the new site!
I think most people have a wacky naming story that only makes sense to them. I can't even remember why I chose mine and it was only 4 months ago, lol.
