on some morning rambling...

Oh, how I love daylight savings. You don't even understand. If it were possible to make out with daylight savings time, I probably would. If it were a person, my husband would have to seriously watch out. (Unless he's able to figure out a way to grant me an extra hour of sleep.) Of course, come Spring, I want to punch daylight savings in the jaw, but for now? I'm just glad that I had the extra hour last night. I know I must have had at least a few good hours in there between the coughing and the sniffling and the fear of Jack Nicholson.

I didn't mention that I fooled myself into thinking I was brave enough to watch The Shining last night? Well, here's some advice: DON'T WATCH IT BEFORE GOING TO BED. Seriously. I'm paranoid as it is; I hardly need the added fear of my husband going crazy overnight and hacking me into a million pieces with an axe.

me: "You'd never go crazy and kill me, would you?"
Jay (moving his finger and using that creepy "redrum" kid voice): "Nnnoooo, I woouuullldd nneevverrrrr."
me: "Thanks for that. I just peed all over the couch. Happy now?"
Jay: "Yyeeesssss. I aaaaamm."

For the record, I didn't actually pee all over the couch, but that's not the point. I don't enjoy being scared, that's all. So, there's that.

Also, I don't recommend falling asleep with a cherry-flavored cough drop in your mouth. Because when you wake up in the morning, you will probably think you are coughing up blood and figure you are now dying of the same thing as Satine in Moulin Rouge. Except your death will be slightly less romantic, as your husband will probably not be singing over your dead body, nor will you die as gracefully as Nicole Kidman.

(On a sidenote: thanks to the adorable miss Danni over at oh, hello friend for the lovely graphics that I incorporated into my November banner & NaBloPoMo sidebar whatchamacallit. She's a gem; you should check out her blog and love it just as much as I do!)

  1. I wish I had gone to bed at a normal hour so I could enjoy the goodness of daylight savings time.

Also, The Shining freaks me out. Majorly.

  4. I've only seen The Shining once; it was when I was younger (probably 11?) & it scared the HELL out of me. Nightmares for weeks; sleeping with the lights on, crying for my mommy, the works. My dad thought it would be a good idea to have me watch it because "it's a classic."

I'll never watch it again. Ever!

Also, I emailed you a long time ago... did you get it?

  5. Yep, I'm right there with you on wanting to slip the tongue to daylight savings time. Perhaps even second base. It's amazing what an extra hour can do to a girl.

  6. Never seen the shining. I have plans to never watch it. Scary movies seriously freak me out. Also I love daylight savings too... In the fall I love the hour of sleep but HATE how it gets dark earlier. I really, really, really hate that. In the Spring I don't like loosing the hour of sleep, but I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE how it stays light out until 9pm!!!!

  8. The clocks went back here last week, so I am now firmly in the grip of feeling confused and tired.

I last watched the Shining when doing the 60 hours challenge(staying awake for 60 hours). It's quite helpful for that, especially if you are doing it in a HOTEL. Needless to say, I didn't want to sleep afterward!

  11. I thought I recognized those graphics from
Danni's blog, how nice of her to give out that cut out psd file.

She's a good person, a personal friend of mine from art school...I actually found this blog through hers and when I was actually a good blogger I believe I had a part in convincing her to blog too :)

On topic of the shinning, I just tried to get my girlfriend to watch the blood filled elevator part and she couldn't even watch that much of it, so kudos for watching the whole thing at night!

  12. Aww, I hope you're feeling better!

I haven't seen The Shining, but I'm terrible when it comes to scary movies. I'm such a wuss. A movie I don't recommend if you want to sleep ever again? The Strangers.

  13. Haha, you're awesome. I watched the Blair witch project on friday night and then laid in bed all night studying the dark corners of my room for...I dunno, Blair witches?!? And here I thought I had matured and grown a set. Not so!

  14. That's so funny... I am reading Twilight right now and I always find myself asking my fiance questions like "If you were a vampire and I was a human, would you bite me and turn me into a vampire so that I could live forever with you even if it meant I'd lose my soul?"

And in the context of Twilight it is a perfectly logical question but I'm sure he's thinking something along the lines of "WTF?!?!??!!"
    Sometimes you just gotta know!

  16. I will never watch The Shining! I am not a fan of scary movies at all! I do LOVE Moulin Rouge though (; I am still working on a 101 things in 1001 days post. I had the whole darn list written and my lovely laptop took a pooper. Even made a super cute header for the post also! Just got the laptop back a few days ago from those lovely chaps over at the Geek Squad, so I will be redoing my list this week!
    Love your Disney pictures too!
