on the dangers of $2 wine...

Last night, after an incredibly stressful day at work, I found myself downloading Taylor Swift songs on iTunes while drinking half a bottle of wine.

(Okay, so maybe it was more than half a bottle, but who's keeping track, anyway? Don't judge me.)

First of all, I shouldn't be trusted alone with a bottle of wine. Especially when it's a crappy, $2 bottle of wine. Second of all, I shouldn't be trusted to browse iTunes while drinking said wine. Because I will most likely resort to downloading a bunch of songs that I don't even necessarily like, and at some point will download a Taylor Swift music video, as opposed to the actual song I was looking for, then cry out, "What the frick? WHAT IS THIS? A video? How much did I just pay for this? Shoot! That Taylor Swift is one crafty little fox!" And let's just say that it's a good thing that I got really sleepy before downloading every single song Hanson ever recorded in the last decade.

(On a side note, have you seen the "Teardrops on My Guitar" music video? Want to come over and watch it? Because apparently I downloaded it last night. It's good times.)

I also found it hilarious to hide under the sheets when Jay arrived home from his poker night a little after 1:00 in the morning. At least he played along, as I acted like a ridiculously hyper nine year old. I swear, sometimes he must question his decision to marry such a piece of work. He really didn't know what he was getting himself into, did he? He's one lucky, lucky man. That's all I can say about that.

I swear, I don't normally turn to the bottle when I'm stressed out. For the record, it's normally food. (I always wanted to be one of those people who somehow "can't possibly eat" when they're stressed. Because that would be awesome for my tummy pooch, being that I can pretty much always find a reason to stress out.) And now I'm realizing that it's not a good idea to drink a half a bottle of wine in one fell swoop, especially when you haven't consumed that much alcohol in a good, long while. Blech.

And how was your evening?

  3. Oh man when I said you should see more than one glass I wasn't meaning that I wanted it to make you sick. Sorry about that. I feel your pain though because I most definitely can't drink as much as I used to, not that it's a bad thing, but you know what I mean. Andrew will only listen to two country songs (because I make him) and that is one of them (Teardrops on my Guitar), his nickname is Drew, so I sing it to him. He likes when I sing to him (I hate it). hehe Hopefully you are feeling better.

  4. so, it's just after 3:30p, and i've been particularly stressed out the past few days... i came home, threw a handful of french fries in the oven and melted some mozzarella cheese over the top and poured myself a glass of wine.

i'm currently on glass numero dos,and it's fantastic.

    clearly, i have no shame.

  5. aren't spouses great?

last night my husband was brushing his teeth, and I was talking to him...la la la. When all of a sudden I realized, huh, why isn't he using the sonicare? He was using his regular toothbrush, that I THOUGHT he didn't use anymore. Yea, I use it to clean the sink, and OTHER gross things that you don't want in your mouth. I laughed a lot, and he did not.

So, you had fun playing hide and seek, woo woo, life's a game!

  6. hahahah, the hiding under the covers made me giggle. likely because i did the exact same thing yesterday afternoon. i'm totally 5 years old.

  7. hahahaha LOVE it!
i almost never go home a drink wine either- but know what? i think its awesome sometimes to just go home, get cozy, get a lil drunk on 2buck chuck, and do ridiculous things all by yourself. drunk downloading is definitely something i would do (and have done) but i am also fond of the drunk myspace, drunk dirty text (to the boyfriend of course), the drunk "i love you" phone call to my best friend, drunk online shopping at forever21.com and of course drunk solitaire on the computer.

last night i went to the gym, ran 3 miles, and then for some strange reason got on the stair climber. big mistake. wanted to die. made up for it by eating half a pint of raspberry sorbet.

  8. darling? I maybe (and by maybe I mean totally) did the same thing last night. The boyf though I was nuts-o but endulged my giggles.

  10. LOL, nothing wrong with half a bottle of wine, better than the whole bottle. I love the new Taylor Swift cd.

  11. See,now call me Scottish, but i would have had the whole bottle. Wine doesn't do much for me, but a nice pint of white beer, or a double Jack and Coke, thats how I de-stress from a particularly bad sitch.

Kinda tempted by the half bottle of wine in my fridge now...

  13. I beg to differ. Charles Shaw was one sneaky bastard. And I can't say no.

Molly and I ate All American Chocolate Cake from Costco...you know, the ridiculously damp and rich cake that is AMAZING...and we drank some white zin...and we watched Get Smart. It was awesome. chocolate and wine and funny people... nice.

  14. i just went out and bought the new Taylor Swift CD last night and now can't stop listening to it. It's been on repeat all day at work.

i can't drink alone; i've tried and i just can't do it at home unless i have people over and we're getting ready to go out or something. it's odd. but probably a good thing.

  20. I only have one problem with you doing the nablopomo thing(I so had to go look that up and make sure I had it right)-- I can hardly keep up with your lovely posts!! :)
but at least I know there will always be some Kerri goodness waiting there for me to read and enjoy at the end of the day. practically as good as a bottle of $2 wine. (no???)

  21. I just found you through "Discover" over on Google Reader. I love your site content and the look. Very nice :) As for the wine--I'm actually finishing off the 1.5 liter of Livingston Cellars Red Rose (there wasn't enough left for a glass). Yup, I'm being a hick and drinking straight out of the bottle. I'm gonna add you to my reader if you don't mind!

  22. P.S. Sorry, I forgot, it's $4.50 for the 1.5 liter. Check it out!

  24. have I mentioned I lo-ove your new header!? gorg!

  25. You are too cute! Seriously, I may hide under the sheets and giggle tonight just to keep things fun! :)

Tonight I am watching the CMAs and sharing a bed with four "people". Dog people that is.

  26. i do the SAME THING after i've been drinking. that new itunes feature that lets you hear songs similar to the ones you've already purchased--- it's also the devil.

  28. OMG I totally act like a little kid sometimes just to see how it plays with my fiance (note: not well). Glad to know that I am not the only one. :-)

  29. You are hilarious! I have not seen that video...I will have to come right over! ;-) OH, and wine=yummy!

  30. Um yeah. That's exactly how I am (when I'm not prego). I LOVE me some cheep wine... and I'm definitely a stress eater. My cousin... the lucky girl... is one of those "I can't eat when I'm stressed" people, and I've always wished I was that way. Because for the amount of stress I've had over the last year, I would definitely not be the size I am today. Well, the size I was over the summer, pre baby bump. Humph.

    I miss wine.

    ReplyDelete
  31. lol! That's so amazing!

In Canada there are minimum prices on alcohol so $2 wine doesn't exist. Hope the stress eases!

    ReplyDelete
  32. mmm. i will come over and we will watch Teardrops on My Guitar and drink lots of wine.

Did you know that Tyler Hilton is in that video? He's so pretty...

  33. I also wish that I was one of those "can't eat when stressed." The only time stress diverts me from eating is when it's something REALLY bad that I wouldn't choose over weight loss. Stress eating isnt even my problem so much as eating after stress. "Oh well. You had a long day. Have a pint of ice cream, you deserve it." Bad, bad bad!

  34. Ok, so I'm taking a chance b writing you a message and I don't even know you! I came across your blog a few weeks ago when i did a google search on side-swept bangs. Stick with me here! A picture of Mandy Moore came up, so I clicked it. That is when I saw your blog. It was a post about different hairstyles you were thinking of and I read it. I don't even know when that was written, but I found your writing enjoyable and funny. So I have been reading your blog randomly ever since and thought I would say hello. Hello! Anyway, feel free to check out my blog, or you can ignore me all together. But I enjoy your blog and love your pictures (I just bought a new camera and finished a photography class!)
P.S. my name is Jessica, thanks!
