on a new list...

I had started my list of 101 things to do in 1001 days a couple years ago, and slowly but surely it fell into the abyss. And in saying "abyss", I'm referring to the abyss of projects I start and somehow manage to forget about soon thereafter; also included are my wedding scrapbook (I have about six glorious pages done, and that's about all you're going to get out of me), organizing the random nooks and crannies in our duplex (one junk drawer is turning into two, which is turning into three, which is turning into about a dozen - someone save me from myself, because whenever our place is messy I just end up tossing things into these drawers just to hide them), various art projects of which I own entirely too many supplies to count (I'm just glad I fought the urge to start a quilt, because that mess is intense), and returning phone calls in an efficient manner.

Okay, so perhaps phone calls shouldn't be considered a project per se, but dude. I'm not a phone person. So, there you go.

Anyway, I've been seeing these sorts of lists floating around again lately, and was suddenly inspired to give my list a bit of a fluffy makeover and fresh start. The original list is a wee bit outdated at this point (if I do say so myself) and I've certainly changed alot in the last two years. My goals have changed, my life has changed, my hopes and dreams have changed - to a certain extent, anyway. I think I'm ready for a new list. I've taken off a few things that I no longer have any desire to complete, have removed the things I actually did manage to do within the last two years, and added some new items that seem entertaining or exciting or enlightening or something to that effect.

So, here we go. I'm working on getting my new list organized and pretty - I should have it up by the end of the week.

I'll be checking back in with the list here and there, making notes of my progress (or lack thereof). Let me know if any of you are going to undertake this project! We can keep each other accountable. And be listy friends.

Because, you know, everyone loves a good list.

  1. I agree lists are great! I have one of those 101 things to do in 1001 days and even had it on my blog for awhile but I might refresh mine and change and add things.

Ohh can't wait to read yours though as I love reading through people's lists. I just love lists!

But yours will be fun to read =)

  2. As for clearing up junk - take one night/few hours a week in which you clear up one drawer. And then another one the next week. If you keep going like that it'll all be tidied much sooner then when you try to tackle it as one big project.

  3. Looking forward to the updated list...see I am totally holding you accountable. It helps...I am sure you would do it for me. Love, marketinggurl

  4. i've been thinking the same thing! i made my 101 in 1001 list...hmm, quite a while ago, and some of the things just don't pertain to me anymore. the other day i went through and chose the ones i wanted to re-write...and i'm in the process of doing that now. good luck with the re-vamp! :)

  5. P.S - You've made me want to do this, so I'm doing it! 101 in 1001. Yay, I'm so excited. I'll be posting it on my blog as well. We can share lists!

  6. I make lists but always lose them -- grocery lists, work lists, any sort of list.

Sadly, I am not a listy person.

  7. I would love to see a comparison of the biggest changes on your lists = ) That sounds like a great challenge, looking forward to it!

  8. I actually started a 101/1001 list at the beginning of the month but never got around to finalizing it.

I had been hoping to have it done by my birthday (way back on the 8th) but when that didn't happen I sort of lost momentum.

Hmm, maybe I'll finish it up and post it later this week as well. You're right, it's better when you have someone to help keep you accountable :)

  9. 1001 days - I have no idea how long that even is! :) Heehee.

I would love to do this, except then I fear I'd see it as another obligation or something.

I'm more of a free spirit who has whims.

My goals? Figure what I'm doing with my life. Have a baby. Don't get poor. Go somewhere.

And the rest can fall into place. :-P

  10. i have a 101 in 1001. i have been doing pretty well on knocking things off it. can't wait to see your list! love, love, love me some lists! :)

  11. Oh, how I do love a good list! I make all kinds of lists, groceries, to dos...some are mental, some are on paper. I usually go to the store w/my list and still manage to forget some things on it, and that makes me very angry.

I don't know how many things would be on my 'list' for life, but I'll give it a go.

  12. Ooh, I'm inspired. Love the idea. Like ongoing New Year's Resolutions except they don't suck! No one actually likes New Year's Resolutions.

I might start working up a list..

  13. I can't handle that many long term goals very well, so I snagged an idea off some random blog I saw once.

On her 29th birthday, she came up with a list called her "30 by 30." It was a list of 30 things she wanted to accomplish by the time she was 30 years old. I found it when I was 26, so I started with my 27x27. I am, of course, now working on my 30x30. It's at

I can't wait to see your list. I get ideas from reading other people's lists! :)

  14. Oh my! Committing to a list would definitely freak me out. I love lists when it comes to things like the grocery store or a list of things to pack, but a life list would totally be too much for me! Good luck! Can't wait to see what is all on it! Dont' forget to add some fun stuff too (ooh, like rewards)!

  15. Happy October and New Banner!

  16. I DO love lists ... maybe I should join the fun! Oh, and btw - I'm loving your October header! Dangit, I really, really need a new header!

  17. listy friends, cute :)

    i love lists!

i have quite a lot on my list, but never any time or motivation to get anything done. i went through this one-day feeling where i thought i could possibly do one-thing-a-day off my list. yea right! ;)

can't wait to see yours, maybe it will inspire me to actually do something.

  18. I just find out about the 101 in 1001 thanks to you talking about it, really nice idea! Now I made mine, so I'm looking forward to see how different other people's lists are. Lists are awesome :)

  19. Dude... there's no way I can do 101! Can I do 11 in 1001 days instead? Sooooo pathetic, I know!

  20. I started a list like this a few years back, only it was more a list of things to accomplish in my lifetime. I was studying abroad in South Africa at the time, so it would be interesting to look back on the list and see what was on my mind at the time - and maybe even accomplishing a few! I'll get it next time I'm at my parents house and maybe write a blog about it.

  21. i need to make myself a list, i tend to stick to lists so it'd be interesting to see how i do. and good luck on yours!

  22. who IS a good phone person?!

    not I.

  23. I've been thinking about updating my 101, too. I did make a lot of progress on the last one. That list is how we met!

  24. i have some items for your list. are you ready? here we go:

    1. make jay buy me a house.
    2. make one of the rooms the craft room.
    3. empty junk drawers and other various and sundry items into craft room.
    4. shut door.
    5. PRESTO! Clean house!

Whaaaaat? It totally works for my mom. ;)

i think i shall also join your listy quest. i like that. it might take me 1001 days to just get the list written, but hey. i'll give it a whirl. :)

and i see you're doing national whatever whatever blog posting month -- i have always wanted to do that but always wussed out. good for you! :)
