on a sudden idea...

I want to dye my hair brown. Like, in two weeks. I've always said I wanted to go darker, and something tells me that I should just do it already. Someone needs to either talk me into this, or talk me out of it. Or maybe a little of both, then I'll make up my mind on my own.

(Okay, that's a lie. I quite obviously don't make decisions by myself. I'm a non-decision-maker. Hold me.)

Opinions?

  1. Try it! The blonde looks awesome, but hey, it's just hair, you can always dye it back :) I say go for it.

  2. I love your hair, so I wouldn't change it. I dyed my hair darker and it took FOREVER to get it back to normal (forever is like a year a half!). I think going darker is always more risky than going lighter. But, whatever decision you make, I'm pretty sure you'll still be gorgeous!

  3. DO IT. Seriously, a pro can always turn it back to how it is now. I think the dark hair would be very striking on you... but, as a brunette, I may be biased!

  4. I think that you would be beautiful as a blonde or a brunette, just know that making your hair darker could be a huge pain to fix if you change your mind! I've known some blondes who have gone dark and ended up HATING it and they practically fried their hair getting it light again.

Just give it a lot of thought, and I'm sure you'll make the decision that's right for you!

  5. No! I mean, I'm sure it would look great but some people just look fantastic as blonds and you are one of them!

  6. i wouldn't go *too* dark but if i were you i'd go for it. do a semi-permanent color first, which will be a bit easier to reverse if you decide it's not for you. but hey-- i think it'll look beautiful.

  7. Do it! I say yes! You can always highlight it back if you hate it, hell I've done it a million times. If you want to go slow, have her put in low lights first, and slowly darken it.

  8. You would make a beautiful brunette BUT, as a brunette myself (er, or fake redhead, whatever!) I have to admit, I adore your highlights. I wish I could be blond.

  9. I did that. And I liked it for like a day. Then I had to grow it out FOREVER.

  10. Whenever I see pictures on your blog I'm always all, "agh that girl has THE prettiest hair" in an envious but appreciative way. So with that, I would vote for no changes!

  13. I really like the blonde, but I think you should try it! Plus, brown hair is great for fall!

Also, I wanted to let you know that I am recommending your blog for Blog Day 2008. Woo!

  14. My assumption is that those who say no, are not blonde & therefor want the grass on the other side. But honestly, I think darker hair frames facial features nicer. When you doodle and draw, you outline the edges, make them more noticable. That is what darker hair does. I mean, I wouldnt go as dark as cricket on you, but I think a lighter brunette would be goodessy.

then again, it is YOU hair, and YOU are wearing it. do what YOU want to do! and it can always be undone if you don't like it.

  15. The darker your hair is, the more your eyes stand out -- I think it's something every woman should try once in her life. :)

  16. Do it! I am a natural blonde. (a little darker than yours) I went chocolate brown and LOVED it. The only reason I am growing it out is because it was so expensive to dye every 8 weeks. However I think it will look great. :)

  17. I just went through the whole brunette phase(I was a blonde for 22 years). I suggest taking the semi-permanent route and seeing if that's what you really want. I kept the brown hair for almost a year when I finally missed being a blonde too much. Everyone else loved the brown hair though. If it's what you want, go for it! Brown hair does make your eyes stand out.

  18. Hmmm... I think you could totally rock the brunette of course -- but I say No just because it would take forever to get your blonde back. If you were just dying your hair blonde with a box of dye for $5 I would say go brown but since you're paying to get your hilights done, it would be hard to get your hair back. But I know how it goes to want a change -- I sometimes think about going brown too (well, I've done it before in the past as well) but I think blond really suits you. What does Jay say?

  19. i say go for it! you can always go back and if you never try it, you won't know what you're missing. :)

  20. I say DO IT! I love dark hair with blue eyes and slightly tanned skin - it looks so beautiful!

  21. Found your blog, loved it, and linked to it for BlogDay 2008.

  22. PS - I say go brunette. It's only hair.

  23. think you'll look awesome no matter what :) and that's not a lie to be nice. i wouldn't go too many shades darker though because they say that's not a good idea :) you only live once, girlfriend!

  24. First of all, I say go for it! And, like Renee said, I may be a bit biased because I'm a brunette as well :) Remember you can always dye it back. My best friend is a natural blonde and dyed hers brown for a while. She didn't have to grow it out or anything when she wanted blonde again - she just had it dyed back.

Also, I saw this idea as a once in a lifetime opportunity (ok, maybe not quite that drastic) to start practicing my photoshop skills again! Html doesn't work in comments, so just visit the link below. My boyfriend saw me doing this and was like "...uhhhhh...who's that? And why are you coloring her hair?" Hahaha...boys will never understand. And, do I have too much time on my hands? Why yes, yes I do.

  25. Definitely do it.

It's just hair - you can dye it back if you hate it.

Plus, I think it'll look good.

    Change can be fun sometimes.

  26. i adore the blond, but i say DO IT. but i'd use temporary dye.
i'm sure you'll look absolutely stunning, and i love dark hair for fall.

  27. I agree with the semi permanent. I do my own dye at home with the Natural Instincts; it leaves your hair SO shiny.

  28. Your long blonde hair is so pretty, but you have the option to change it and that's always fun! Maybe you could go slow like the others have suggested... My hair is way to dark to dye or highlight. I'm afraid it would look too fake and that would not make me happy.

  29. oh, I bet you'd look fantastic as a brunette!! Try it and see! Come join the dark side. :)

  30. I think you should cut it a few inches and dye it with semi-permanent. :) I remember you mentioning a few months ago that you thought about dying it darker and I kept thinking how GREAT that would look.

Just see what it looks like. It wouldn't be the end of the world if you didn't like it. All I know is - I have 2 sisters with dirty blond hair. One dyes it super blonde and the other dyes it dark. I prefer the darker hair... (Plus, change is GREAT.)

[All these conflicting decisions are probably just GREAT for your inability to make decisions.]

  31. YOU HAVE BEAUTIFUL BLONDE HAIR, ARE YOU CRAZY???????????

  32. My advise? Buy or borrow a wig FIRST!

    ReplyDelete
  33. how dark are you thinking about going? i mean a golden brown would look nice but i don't know about super dark, you're are a lovely blond.

  34. I was blond or close to it in the spring. And then I went with milk chocolate for my new color for fall. I'M LOVING IT.

    Go for it. :)

The blond is pretty...but blond is SOOOO expensive to keep up and take care of!

  35. Your hair is just gorgeous. I wouldn't change anything.
