on another exposaroonie challenge...

Here is my entry for the most recent exposaroonie.com challenge!

The challenge was to take a photo using the "rule of thirds" - something I had no idea about until now, but makes me happy nonetheless because it means taking photos in an off-kilter way, so to speak. If you divided your photo into nine boxes, you need to make sure the subject (or the horizon) isn't in the center box. Spiffy, no?

I walked around our house for a while taking random photos (was too lazy to go anywhere else) and ended up choosing this photo for two reasons:

1. It is photographic proof that my husband bought me flowers. Indeed. (And when I get flowers I'm going to keep them around until they basically turn brown or stink up the room. Maybe he should start shopping for flowers at Michaels, actually. That's an idea.)

2. I like how warm the photo looks. I did a bit of photoshopping, and I'm obsessed with the sepia layer. It seriously makes everything look so gosh darn warm and cozy! Seriously! Makes me want to put on my pj's and drink some hot cocoa!

Now, go. Go enter your own photo, because time is running out for this week's challenge!

(Also, I want to say thank you for all the great comments on my last post. I think that more than anything, sometimes I just need to put exactly what I'm feeling into words, just to clear my head. And it helps even more to get such encouraging feedback from everyone, ensuring me that I am not alone in my confusion/discoveries/indecision. I can't tell you how much all of you mean to me. Can I get a group hug up in here?)

  3. This is really great, good job! And I'm glad your post helped make you feel better. I kind of posted a similar one even though I was kind of in denial that I was in a funk, but afterwards I immediately felt better. It's nice to know that it's okay to feel bad. It's just the feeling better part that's important

  5. I like that photo. I find it relaxing. And it does make me want to drink hot chocolate with marshmellows. Hmm...I just might do that.

And I hear you with your last post. Going through the same thing so it makes sense to me.

I hope you get a letter from me soon. This week?

  8. Your photos are always so wonderful!!

Thanks for your comment on my blog about selling my creations in a "real store" lol! It's seriously hard to not go in everyday!! Especially since the store is 5 minutes away from my house. But right now I think I'm more scared to walk in the store and find out nothing has sold!!

I have a feeling that the "self discovery" stage lasts a LONG time. I know who I am partly, but am still waiting for everything to click, ya know?
