on running/walking...

Have I mentioned the fact that I decided last week I want to be a runner? Traditionally, I pride myself on being the anti-sport, having never enjoyed or played any sports. Ever. But, you know, there's a time and a place for everything. This could be my revolution, people. Prepare yourself for greatness.

I jogged the whole way home from the gym with Jay the other day (granted, it's not far, but still) and completely surprised myself by continuing the whole way home. And, really, it felt quite good. After that, I decided I want to do the LA Marathon.

Or...not. (Baby steps, Kerri, baby steps.)

Anyway, I would like to see myself work on the whole endurance part of "getting in shape". I'm a schlub, I tell you, and tend to tap out, shall we say, at the first sign of sweat and/or burning of the lungs. I'd like to see if I could be one of those people who can run a mile or so and live to tell the tale, you know? And I read somewhere that people who begin running a few days a week, can lose 1 lb. a week, and the superficial part of me cried out, "Heck, yeah!"

We'll see how long this lasts. I went running with M this morning, and considering she's juuuust a little more conditioned than I am (she's been running since highschool) I lagged behind a bit, but it was good just the same. I'm thinking if I do that 2-3 times a week, we should see some sort of progress.

This could be fun. (Or absolute torture. But either way, at least I'm getting some exersize, right? Right.)
